How Far Are You Willing To Go?

Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped. And Jesus said, “Who touched Me?”

When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes throng and press You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me? But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.”  Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately. And He said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”

Memory Verse:  If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land. Isaiah 1:19.

I was watching a video sent by my uncle a few days ago and it centered around a set of people called the Millennials. These are a generation of people born between 1981-1996. There had been an ongoing analysis of this generation’s lifestyle and what really stood out was the urgency around accomplishment for these ones. They are hungry people with the desire for pace.

As things in life began to evolve within these years, almost everything became and is still becoming automated. This is in turn caused a great struggle with almost everything in life and the problem is still rising an ongoing. Citing an example close to home, you want friends? No need to build a relationship, just get a social media account and do things to attract followers and boom you have bagged yourself daily company with people liking, commenting and having conversations with you whom you may never see.

You want a meal? No need for grocery shopping, just log on to the internet and order for ready meals. This has in turn affected Christianity at large. You want to hear the word of God? No need to read your bible or attend a family church, just go online and you will find ready-made sermons. Worse still even as a minister of God, there are website to purchase ready-made sermon so no need to spend time dwelling on the word of God or waiting on God to hear from Him, afteralll sermons are fast becoming motivational speeches and hugely not centered around God anymore.

The world we live in may have become automated and not only people born from 1981 are impacted. The world at large is impacted because even with all that automation comes elimination of the things which are really important to building a life that is completely genuine and pleasing to God. People are no longer willing to go a mile for the things that are important as long as they can get instant results. The comparison to instant result is called magic and we know that magic cannot stand the test of time Exodus 8:16-19.

Whiles I also enjoy some of the benefits of this advancement, I have also come to realise some things have to be done the traditional way to achieve lasting results. One and the most important is your walk with God.

The bible text today refers to the woman with the issue of blood who naturally had been overspent trying to get her healing. Her condition had become worse and I can imagine she may also have been given a targeted end of life date due to her non-stop flow of blood. Yet she had to do something and it required that she moved from her comfort zone. She needed to have a physical touch. The power that her sickness needed to be healed was not responding remotely so she had no other option but to get up and find a way of touching Jesus to be completely healed.

God gave the wisdom for all this advancement but He is not a magician. You cannot communicate with God remotely or build a social media type of relationship with God. If you truly desire to be a child of God, then you have to be willing to do it the old fashion way. Pray, Fast, Study His word, have faith, Obey His instructions, show love to the neighbors and continue to do this over and over again.

The Lord will only Honour those who honour Him 1Samuel 2:30b.  Are you willing to do what it takes to follow God?

We are all work in progress but walking in the right direction is the only way to the right destination. We must choose who we serve God our society, As for me I will serve the Lord Joshua 24:15.

PRAYERS:

  • Father I thank you for a wonderful morning
  • I receive the grace to live right and come back to you my first love
  • Help me Lord not to be carried away by worldly distractions but to grow in my desire for your kingdom and to draw closer to you everyday
  • Forgive me all my sins O Lord and let your mercy prevail over judgement
  • Thank you Lord for answers to prayers, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.
