Proverbs Challenge – Chapter 12

The House of the Righteous Shall Stand

12 Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge,
But he who hates correction is stupid.

A good man obtains favor from the Lord,
But a man of wicked intentions He will condemn.

A man is not established by wickedness,
But the root of the righteous cannot be moved.

Ana]”>[a] excellent wife is the crown of her husband,
But she who causes shame is like rottenness in his bones.

The thoughts of the righteous are right,
But the counsels of the wicked are deceitful.
The words of the wicked are, “Lie in wait for blood,”
But the mouth of the upright will deliver them.

The wicked are overthrown and are no more,
But the house of the righteous will stand.

A man will be commended according to his wisdom,
But he who is of a perverse heart will be despised.

Better is the one who is b]”>[b]slighted but has a servant,
Than he who honors himself but lacks bread.

10 A righteous man regards the life of his animal,
But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

11 He who c]”>[c]tills his land will be satisfied with bread,
But he who follows d]”>[d]frivolity is devoid of e]”>[e]understanding.

12 The wicked covet the catch of evil men,
But the root of the righteous yields fruit.
13 The wicked is ensnared by the transgression of his lips,
But the righteous will come through trouble.
14 A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth,
And the recompense of a man’s hands will be rendered to him.

15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes,
But he who heeds counsel is wise.
16 A fool’s wrath is known at once,
But a prudent man covers shame.

17 He who speaks truth declares righteousness,
But a false witness, deceit.
18 There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword,
But the tongue of the wise promotes health.
19 The truthful lip shall be established forever,
But a lying tongue is but for a moment.
20 Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil,
But counselors of peace have joy.
21 No grave f]”>[f]trouble will overtake the righteous,
But the wicked shall be filled with evil.
22 Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord,
But those who deal truthfully are His delight.

23 A prudent man conceals knowledge,
But the heart of fools proclaims foolishness.

24 The hand of the diligent will rule,
But the lazy man will be put to forced labor.

25 Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression,
But a good word makes it glad.

26 The righteous should choose his friends carefully,
For the way of the wicked leads them astray.

27 The lazy man does not roast what he took in hunting,
But diligence is man’s precious possession.

28 In the way of righteousness is life,
And in its pathway there is no death.

Brutish” or “Stupid” means acting like a someone that does not accumulate knowledge. An intelligent person is one who listens to instructions.
A good man seeks to please God instead of himself and this pleases God. A wicked person is always thinking of the next evil to perpetrate and God condemns this.
This chapter also talks about the righteous person is like an oak tree that can never be uprooted. It also talks about how important it is for a woman to be upright so that her family will not be ashamed of her.

  2. Prophetess Deborah Oreofe David

Day 10: Proverb 10:1-3 A wise Christian make God happy because our God Himself is a wise God,there is no father that will not love any of his children that take after him, wisdom provides righteous and righteousness deliver is from the power of death,God will never make a righteous man to suffer, though it maybe rough in the beginning but joy cometh in the morning.
Proverb 10:4-8 In our services to God, God requires diligence from us,and it is by our consistence before Him shall make us rich, our God in heaven work before He rested on the seventh day,God wants us to be steadfast before Him,so that we may get abundant blessings from Him. We should lay a good example for our upcoming Christians by obeying God’s commandments.
Proverb 10:9-15 God can not be mocked, He knows everyone according to his/ her deeds before Him. A good Christian must always be in spirit, a good Christian must sit among the scornful people,a righteous man must be blameless before God and man,and again, you must not have an hatred mind towards anyone, an hatred person can easily become a killer, instead of that, learn to speak peace to everyone you come across with, wisdom takes you away from destruction, that’s why Solomon advised us to get wisdom. Wisdom is like a wealth to whosoever that possess it,but what makes a man poor is the level of their understanding.
Proverb 10:16-21 A righteous man keeps God’s commandments and walk in the path of life, as a Christian, we must embrace all what can give us eternal life in the Lord, a good Christian does not talk much, learn to bridle your tongues, some Even speak nonsense because they want to feel belong, when some even talk maybe at home or in their environment, people where such words are coming from, wisdom makes to be rich in Christ Jesus, and a righteous man has everlasting joy peace and so on and so forth in the Lord.
Proverb 10:26-3 We must be hardworking especially to the work of God, work according to His commandments, make ourselves available to the work of God, and put our trust and hope in God, God is a rewarder of those who diligently serve HIM. He is not a man,His word is Yea and Amen, don’t be jealous because of the evil doers, they may enjoy now but the expectations of the wicked will perish, destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity, let’s try to be righteous in all our Way’s, may God help us in Jesus name Amen.

  3. Imion immaculate osereme

He who loves discipline, love knowledge but he who hates correction is stupid. A good man will always obtains favor from the Lord, but the Lord condemns a crafty man. Whenever we do evil or we live our lives in the way of the wicked,we can never be established but when we are righteous and always try to do things right, the evil ones can never be able to uproot us cos we have God on our side and God loves the righteous.

  4. ADEOSUN OLUGBEMI OLAGOKE

Verse 1 of this chapter gave insight into two set of people:-
    1) brute or animal like Human being
2.) Lover of corrections ———- in that one can not be corrected and the other loves knowledge and will ensure everything to get and attain knowledge.
In vs 4 two women emerge as well 1) one is very good and another is a ( 2) very bad one.
From vs 5 to 22 exposure to the speech, thinking pattern, character, nature even to animals (10).
Vs 11&24 present a diligent person as a ruler or Mavericks ,while the lazy are the ones who in their old age are beginning to labour endlessly to meet up with ends needs in life.
Vs 25 Fear downcast a mans heart, but good words makes one’s heart happy and joyful.
Vs 27 a lazy person makes things spoilt and decay in his or her hands, while a diligent person bring value out of everything around him or her.
Verse 28 finally said walking with the righteous brings life and walking with the wicked brings death of which we are to choose the one we want.

Proverb 10: verse 1; we all know How our parents act especially when a particular child makes his or her parent happy and the other isn’t. The person that felt the grief of this unhappy ending most is our mothers.
Verse 2; the way book of proverb is hammering on righteousness is very sensitive, right8makes one have lasting and longing life so what’s now the point of acquiring all things in wickedness?
Generally speaking, this chapter is stating what we happen to the wicked and to the righteous. So it is now in our hands to chose the path we want, is it to destruction or to everlasting life?

  6. Odedairo Oladele Omotayo

Proverbs 12 continues a style that started in Proverbs 11. In each verse’s wisdom, an excellent moral trait or action is mentioned, and the positive result of that behaviour. The same verse reveals the consequences and effects when godly wisdom or morality are not exercised.
This chapter would be ideal for putting in a two-column chart. In one column would be the “good” results of wisdom and positive character behaviour found in each verse. The other column could contain the consequence when righteous wisdom is not followed in the same verse. It would be a great comparison of biblical morality versus godless behaviour.
Examine some of the results of wise, godly thinking and a righteous lifestyle found in this chapter:
    • Love of knowledge (vs. 1, 15).
    • Favored by the Lord (vs. 2, 22).
    • Steadfastness (vs. 3, 7).
    • Will be a blessing to their spouse (vs. 4).
    • Righteous thinking (vs. 5).
    • Help to others (vs. 6).
    • Recognition as being wise (vs. 8).
    • Prosperous (vss. 9, 12).
    • Kind to all, even to animals (vs. 10, 18).
    • Hard-working and not lazy (vss. 11, 27).
    • Discerning (vs. 13).
    • Honesty (vs. 14,17, 19).
    • Sensible (vs. 16, 23).
    • Joy (vss. 20, 25).
    • Protected (vs. 21).
    • Responsible and can be trusted (vs. 24).
    • Recognized as a good person (vs. 26).
No matter what, God’s way is the best. Follow His commandments, and your life will be different, but it will have benefits and blessings that the unwise will never experience.

  7. Akinsehinwa Queen

Proverb 11: honesty is what God wants from us, be honest to oneself, business and to people cos God hates cheating. People will test our goodness but the bible states we will overcome and when things start falling to place we start seeing ourself that we are wise or we start saying we have it all forgeting that all we have is from God then pride set in and pride leads to destruction. One thing that is destroying the world now and especially the youth is we refuse to take counsel, we do not listen to instructions even if we do listen we do not want to acquire more believing the little we have in us can sustain us which is why the world is what it is now.
There is a responsibility given to a man which is to provide for the family while to woman is to keep the home likewise every believer in life has a resppnsibility which is to win souls for God.
God actually wants us to reign with Him but He will make sure that whatever you sow on earth the you start the reaping from heart.

  8. Akinsehinwa Queen

    Proverb 12;
We can not at reap what we don not show in life. The best way for us to get wisdom and be righteous is to turn to God form our sinful ways by so doing we will have eternal life and not death.

  9. Odogun Oluwaseun Morrison

Chapter 12 made us to understand that It is okay to be ridiculed when one knows that he is doing the right thing before God, for it is actually a blessing of God to be persecuted for the sake of Christ. It doesn’t matter what people say or think if we know that we are successful according to the standards of God. It is foolish, however, to brag about who one is and what one has when one is living a lie and accomplishing nothing of eternal value. Giving oneself approval is meaningless, and the approval of man is deceitful and passing. But the approval of God is what matters, what lasts, and what we should seek.

It tells us that No one finds security by wickedness. Those who work the land have food. Rash words pierce like a sword. Righteousness leads to life.

    Day 12
Proverbs 12 shows us the path and action of the man with wisdom and the man without, it also shows us the path of a prudent and hardworking man and the wicked and lazy man
When a man loves wisdom, he would follow instructions, he would want to do everything to gain more knowledge, and to do that he would have to be hardworking, and be obedient.
Following the path of a person who loves knowledge has great benefits.
They obtain favour from God and are established, their words of knowledge shall deliver them and their house shall stand, their words will become wise and no evil will happen to them, they shall enjoy their hardwork and there’s no death in their path.
This chapter also proves to us that following the path of the wicked, stupid and slothful also has it’s own benefits/consequences
Their thinking is filled with wickedness and the words of their mouth dosent bring peace instead its piercing, the are captured by the words of their mouth and their wrath is always and easily known, they are quick to lie and God despise that and at the end of that path theres no life
