Bible Text: Matthew 25:41-42 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.” Read Matthew 25:31- 46.
Memory Verse: Proverbs 19:17 “Mercy to the needy is a loan to GOD, and GOD pays back those loans in full.”
One of the beauties of dwelling on the scriptures is the consistency in both the words of the God the Father revealed through His prophets and the words of God the son, while he was on earth.
While we experience the perfect connection of His presence through His word, the scriptures also show us clear directions about God’s expectations from us. To mention a few, God expects us to pay attention to our environment and be sensitive to the needs of others.
I was reading an article on the internet a few days ago about a fantastic initiative by a church and amazingly people were really interested in becoming a part of this movement. They began to make enquiries on actively getting involved except that right at their doorstep lays the same problems waiting to be fixed.
Jesus was clear in His word when He emphasized that the focus of our Christian life is on love. 1 Corinthians 13 :1 says “If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love [for others growing out of God’s love for me], then I have become only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal [just an annoying distraction]”. This is where many Christians are today, being just voices and not counting as those ultimately working towards inheriting the kingdom of God.
No one can mock God, He has spoken more than once about our responsibilities and it is left to us to hear and act upon His sayings. Scriptures educates us that Jesus primarily focused on the needs of others during His ministry on earth. If the teachings and life of Jesus is not enough direction for you and I then there is not much any preacher can say or do as the source of words being proclaimed and taught will only continue to echo the word of God according to the scriptures. Likewise, His expectations which has been communicated to us through Jesus the son of God hence we are to take heed.
Look around you, everything the Lord Has given you is out of love and you are expected to show the poor and needy around you the same measure of the Love of Christ. You do this by extending your hands of support to them in the time of needs, in other words, reach out to them.
How do you expect to receive Gods mercy when you cannot have mercy on someone else? Move from the position of continually focusing on yourself and think about those around you. God is not a waster of resources, when He blesses or makes a many an epitome, it is not just for extravagant and careless living, it’s a resourceful end to a means, or a means to an end; whichever way you choose to say it. God has equipped you, use those gifting and resources to impact the lives of others too.
I challenge you today to share that £1, $1, you have on you with someone else. Intentionally find someone in your environment today and be a blessing for such sacrifices pleases God, Hebrew 13.6.
