Do Not Be Silent!

“Do not keep silent, O God! Do not hold Your peace, and do not be still, O God!”

Memory verse: “Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.” Psalms 81:10b

Many at times, we have that yearning to engage in conversations and other times, we just want to be left alone but in both situations certain things happens in the background weather we speak or not.

Few days ago I was thinking about what my relationship with my daughter will feel like if she just didn’t talk to me. My first few concerns were the first set of conversations she had in the day waking up and just completely ignoring my existence then going through the day without a word. I will not only feel bad but begin to get angry and fearful. The combination of those emotions is not because I like my daughter to be a talkative, but there are some things I just won’t like her not to be silent about.

This is same with our relationship with God. Many times we say He knows our mind and then we wake up and go about our business the whole day, completely ignoring God until something goes contrary to our plans. We then run to Him at this point, squashing all those conversations which we should have been having with Him sequentially through the day into one and expect God to play catch-up with everything. The question remains; “what happens to carrying Him along?”

The bible emphasizes on the use of why God created us with a mouth

“Ask, and it will be given to you”, Matthew 7:7 “For everyone who asks receives”, Matthew 7:8.

The criteria for receiving something is by asking and we even though we know that God through His generosity gives us gifts we have not asked for, something will not happen unless we specifically ask through prayers. Jesus conversed with His disciples about casting out demons saying “But this kind of demon does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” Matthew 17:21.

In His conversation with the blind man, we see a two-way conversation between them starting with Jesus saying “What do you want Me to do for you?” and the man said “Lord, that I may receive my sight”, Luke 18:41.

Are you rest interested in getting God involved in your situation? If you really need God not to be silent then you cannot afford to be.
