Living Intentionally Series: Part 6 – The Church in Philadelphia!

“This is what you must write to the angel of the church in Philadelphia: I am the one who is holy and true, and I have the keys that belonged to David. When I open a door, no one can close it. And when I close a door, no one can open it. Listen to what I say. I know everything you have done. And I have placed before you an open door no one can close. You were not very strong, but you obeyed my message and did not deny you are my followers. Now you will see what I will do with those people who belong to Satan’s group. They claim to be God’s people, but they are liars. I will make them come and kneel down at your feet. Then they will know that I love you. You obeyed my message and endured. So I will protect you from the time of testing everyone in all the world must go through. I am coming soon. So hold firmly to what you have, and no one will take away the crown you will be given as your reward.”

Memory Verse: “But without faith no one can please God. We must believe that God is real and rewards everyone who searches for him.”‭‭ Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭6

The church here was that of a faithful congregation, this was the best church addressed by Jesus and therefore it’s worth dwelling on the understanding of how a church could be so perfect.

Jesus introduced Himself to this church as the Holy and True God who holds the keys of the Kingdom. King David was a man of authority who had dominion over the kingdom of Isreal and though long gone, Jesus reminds us that the uncondional convenant made through God to king David is still alive to those who faithfully serve God in all obedience, like David did.

This church had very limited resources but were faithful in little. Jesus knew their capacity and knew that thou they were weak in some respects , yet they faithfully served God in the fave of trial and because of that, the Lord showered them with blessing.

Jesus opened doors, condemned their ememies and promises to prevent them from the trouble that was to come on the rest of the world.

A believer can only be looking into the blessing of the year , month and day if they have been faithful. Just like the Lord said to Abraham in Genesis 12:3 “I will bless those who bless you, but I will put a curse on anyone who puts a curse on you. Everyone on earth will be blessed because of you.”

If you want to live a life filled with blessings and shielded from the destructions constantly planned by the devil, the key is FAITHFULNESS.
