This is what you must write to the angel of the church in Laodicea: I am the one called Amen! I am the faithful and true witness and the source of God’s creation. Listen to what I say. I know everything you have done, and you are not cold or hot. I wish you were either one or the other. But since you are lukewarm and neither cold nor hot, I will spit you out of my mouth. You claim to be rich and successful and to have everything you need. But you don’t know how bad off you really are. You are pitiful, poor, blind, and naked. Buy your gold from me. It has been refined in a fire, and it will make you rich. Buy white clothes from me. Wear them and you can cover up your shameful nakedness. Buy medicine for your eyes, so you will be able to see. I correct and punish everyone I love. So make up your minds to turn away from your sins. Listen! I am standing and knocking at your door. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and we will eat together. Everyone who wins the victory will sit with me on my throne, just as I won the victory and sat with my Father on his throne.

The past seven devotionals have been filled with messages from Christ today showing different categories of individuals within various churches. In all of the churches, Jesus showed clear awareness of their current state, advised on ways of improvement and showed them the potential rewards for their actions.
This could be said as a performance review of the Christian journey. clear understanding of our current state goes a long way in helping to reshape our lives and understand where we may need to go next and in what direction we ought to move in order to fulfil our God’s given purpose.
The church is Laodicea were unstable as the wind. They were not sure of their position in Christ and practically blended into every situation they found themselves. These are like Christians who are ashamed of the gospel of Christ so they naturally go with the flow and change as easily as the weather. When surrounded by Christians they behaved accordingly and when mingling with sinners, they sin. These set of Christians are not confused or ignorant but choose God when its convenient and aligns with their environment.
Jesus did not have any commendation for this church due to their instability but complained about their over-estimation of status before God and saw themselves opposite of what they were. This came with status and worldly recognitions that was unacceptable to God and their understanding of where they were in their relationship with God was wrong.
Jesus calls for their repentance and realignment to the will of God. He wants them to exchange their worldly riches for genuinene spiritual riches, else they risk expulsion from the mouth of God.
God is not moved by what the world’s grading of man is, but He seeks true worshippers who worship in spirit and in truth.

- Father forgive my iniquities Lord, help me to live right before you and for you and worship you in spirit and in truth
- Let my life be full of your blessings, miracles and breakthrough this year
- Help me Lord to be like the church ready for your coming, living in your faith and holding tight to the covenant you had with David.
- Help me to live in spiritual genuineness, worship you wholeheartedly and make my service worth of eternity
- Help me Lord to stay faithful till the end and not loose my crown
- Help me to be faithful and live a sinfree life
- Help me Lord to stay and remain committed to you and the course you set before me
