Jesus Wants You To Testify!

The man who had been freed from the demons begged to go with him. But Jesus sent him home, saying, “No, go back to your family, and tell them everything God has done for you.” So he went all through the town proclaiming the great things Jesus had done for him.

Memory Verse: Come and listen, all you who fear God and I will tell you what he did for me. Psalm 66:16

What’s the big deal about testifying? This is the thought on some people’s mind when the time for testimony comes in Church. While some go out to declare what God has done, some feel it’s okay to keep it to themselves and just bless and appreciate the goodness of God secretly.

The world has changed compared to the past, more and more people are spending vast time on the internet and shaping their lives based on what they read, hear and see.

Testimonies are a big deal and we could see this based on how fragile the world is at the moment. There seem no better time than now to plant wrong information in the heart of people. For example a story leaks about some new innovation, someone testifies about the product or experience, all on an online platform and before you know it, it has millions of online views, pioneers get buying and sellers cash in hugely. This is exactly the impact technology has over today’s world. It’s the same reason why most people buy products online based on previous customer reviews.

With this improved technology, various aspects of our people lives seem to be moving very fast except the focus on Jesus. Basically these days when we have an encounter with God or we have an opportunity to testify, it suddenly feels like it’s not a big deal as long as we have thanked God for what He has done for us, then why should we bother go and shout it out from the roof tops?

Your testimony is not about you. The encounter, blessing, miracle, deliverance, healing and every other way God has impacted and imparted your life was about you but your testimony is a way of ascribing all glory to God for those impartation and reassuring the people around you that God is still working wonders. Whiles living in a world that is human-centered, the power of your testimony is how the word of God is established in people’s minds. Because human have been created to worship, you find out that if you do not worship God, then you are worshipping something else. This means if you don’t testify about Jesus, your life is testifying about something else.

Your testimony is to glorify God, encourage the believers, educate the unbeliever and shame the devil. Yes, when you testify, there are four aspects to you hence we see that when a testimony is called to the stand in the court of law, the juries have something they ponder on and the more information or testimony they have to consider, the better their decision making when it comes to a plea.

Your testimony is your way of evangelizing. We see the man healed by Jesus in today’s text was so full of Joy. Seeing what transformation his life had experienced, he was ready to go all the way with Jesus, but Jesus wanted Him to go and testify instead because the land then was full of many without faith, full of unbelief. Once the man left to do that which Jesus has instructed, he didn’t only go to his family, his joy knew no bounds so he was going through all town telling of the great things Jesus had done for him. Knowing us for the human we are, everyone wanted to see who Jesus truly was. Is Jesus real? Is He a fraud? Well, testimonies speak volumes.

You have been called to go and make disciples of nations as a command from God. You are to testify about Jesus to the rest of the world. The unbelievers need to hear something and your testimony might just be the eye opener. ” But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? Roman’s 10:14.

Every time you testify, the devil loses his hold over someone else’s life. All the fear and doubt used as a strategy by the devil to dominate people’s mind loses its potency.

PRAYERS:
