How To Experience The Blessing Of God!

“If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the world. You will experience all these blessings if you obey the Lord your God

Memory verse: Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. James 1:17.

Everyone wants to experience blessings. My initial online search for the meaning of ‘blessing’ returned a very interesting definition logged by oxford dictionary, it simply says “God’s help and protection”. Other dictionaries have their diverse meanings but another one which stood out was the Cambridge dictionary, defining it as “request by a priest for God to take care of a particular person or a group of people, or God’s act of doing this”.

This gives you a confirmation that even the world knows that blessing is associated with God. As sound Christians, by His grace have become knowledgeable that every blessing we have enjoyed and will ever experience can only originate from God. Any other thing that looks identical is not a blessing.

God has created everyone with unique qualities therefore what may appear as a blessing to an individual may not so much look like a blessing to another but ultimately, a blessing is mostly appreciated much after a wait because it attracts much gratitude. So you have been waiting and looking unto God for a blessing and it doesn’t just seem to be happening then what next?

Just like you, Abram was in those same shoes when he was waiting for the God’s blessing. Genesis 15:1-4 tells us about the Lord’s covenant with Abram Just before He was renamed by the Lord Himself. God told him Abram he would have a son but when Sarai had still not experienced the blessing promised, she worked what she thought was the blessing of God for her husband. While Ishmael was a bless from God, he was not the blessing God had promised Abram. Abraham did not receive the blessing God had promised him until he attained a 100 years of age and that blessing came in the person of Isaac; through Gods word was manifested, Genesis 21:1-6.

Understanding the difference between a supposed blessing and the blessings from God is what makes a difference in the life of many Christians. Until you know the promise of God you may not even recognise when you are being blessed. God is not Santa clause who just gifts at Christmas only, God is more than that! He blesses His children as at when He knows it will benefit and add meaning to your life.

In as much, you need to be aware that you are the key to activating God’s blessings for your life. Today’s bible passage lays emphases on the If you fully obey the Lord your God”. That’s right, you can only enjoy God’s blessing when you live under Gods rules. Your parents can’t do it for you which means no one is able to activate the blessing of God except you the bearer. So if you have not made up your mind about God just yet, then you haven’t made your choice as to how you want to live your life blessed or without blessings.

What may appear to you and what you see in other people’s lives looking like a blessing may not always be as it seems. Remember the devil disguises himself as an angel if light, 2 Corinthians 11:14 which means those things that you envy in the lives of others many not even be the blessing of God.

The blessing of God is only released to the children of God who obey Him.
