Just then a woman who had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding came up behind him. She touched the fringe of his robe, for she thought, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.” Jesus turned around, and when he saw her he said, “Daughter, be encouraged! Your faith has made you well.” And the woman was healed at that moment.

Life is just what it is, while some enjoy the luxuries of life and have no understanding of the struggling world around them which makes them take various things for granted, others are going through tough times and these people are not necessarily unbelievers. The devil is attacking mostly believers so bad that if care is not taken they just become miserable in every area of their lives. That said, it really takes the grace of God to be appreciative of anything else.
The daily life of a struggler no longer seem or taken as a God given blessing anymore because for those people the problems they going through has consumed their mind and everything around them, therefore unless they get a solution to that particular issue, they cannot really thank God for every other thing God has done. Even worse is they may not even see when God is doing other things for them.
The story of the woman of the issue of blood is one of the most popular in the bible when people talk about prolonged issues particularly because the bible tells us she had been constantly bleeding non-stop for twelve years. As straight forward as it may seem, understanding the law at the time will help you understand that the bleeding may be happening but that was just the introduction of the problem but the main problem came with the laws associated to her condition. “If a woman has a flow of blood for many days that is unrelated to her menstrual period, or if the blood continues beyond the normal period, she is ceremonially unclean. As during her menstrual period, the woman will be unclean as long as the discharge continues. Any bed she lies on and any object she sits on during that time will be unclean, just as during her normal menstrual period. If any of you touch these things, you will be ceremonially unclean. You must wash your clothes and bathe yourself in water, and you will remain unclean until evening Leviticus 15:25-27.
Her situation meant that she was treated like people with leprosy as we discussed in yesterday’s publication. Though she did not physically have leprosy, she was no different from those who did as she was categorized as someone permanently unclean for approximately 4,380 days (12 years) of life. I can only but imagine what that means for an individual who is in such a position. Literally if she was married and had children, they are not allowed to come close as they will automatically become unclean and require washing of cloths, special bath and remain unclean until even so unless anyone was ready to permanently be unclean, it was impossible to really associate with her.
Every other thing in her life became less priority except getting healing for this particular problem which had consumed her life. The woman was a believer, thou we do not know if she was a believer before the issue began but we know that her statement was that of someone who definitely had faith. Having discovered where her healing will come from, she did not say maybe, she was sure that “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.” Matthew 20:21.
What is it that threatens your peace so much that you no longer see a purpose from every other thing in life? Have your challenges been ongoing year on year and you are now at a point of no appreciation for life? I urge you to take a leaf form the book of this woman who despite her situation for twelve years still had the most unshakable faith in God. She didn’t need to be touched or spoken to, she just had enough faith than the hem of Jesus’ garment was sufficient to restore all she had lost.
The blood of Jesus is able to absorb all you pain, worries, problems and lots more but you need to be operating at the level of faith that is unshakable. Staying focused on God is an essential tool for getting over the challenges of life. Unlike the woman who in the time only had the laws, we have the bible with the assurance from Jesus that no matter what we face in this world we are overcomers John 16:33.
Just like a vaccine will not stop a virus from trying to attack you and may not even protect you from getting that virus, you know that because you have the antivirus, your body will fight and eventually block the virus out. Being a Christian is not an immunity but know that you have the antivirus and Jesus has absorbed all the problems before they even came close to your life. What you are just experiencing is the symptoms and threats from the devil. It could have been a lot worse if you didn’t have Jesus at all.
Don’t let the devil steal you daily life, enjoy the best of everyday God has kept to alive for, remain connected to God, have an unshakable faith and you will definitely overcome.
