Take The Blessings NOT The Glory!

After saying all these things, Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son so he can give glory back to you. 2 For you have given him authority over everyone. He gives eternal life to each one you have given him. 3 And this is the way to have eternal life to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth. 4 I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.

Memory Verse: “I am the LORD, that is My name; And My glory I will not give to another, Nor My praise to carved images.” Isaiah 42:8.

God specialises in doing the impossible and it’s no news that this world is full of broken people who needs divine change. Every day, things that just makes it almost impossible to live peacefully happen and a lot of things are clearly contending with the joy, peace and happiness God has given to us. Despite all these, God still remains God and his promises are true.

In order to have a healthy relationship with God, you must be dead to pride, self-exaltation and boasting. These lines can be so tempting and easy to cross hence it is important to be careful as we know what the scripture says about those who fail to humble themselves. Let’s paint at a scenario where you have just led a powerful ministration in your local church and the spirit of God moved mightily with a lot of lives touched and testimonies of instant healing, deliverance, people giving their lives to Christ highlighted the event. Everyone congratulates you telling you how amazing you were and likewise the Pastor referenced that ministration during his sermon.

Suddenly it is a norm that you’ll start enjoying the attention, afteralll everyone has an evidence for the successful ministration. Having being careless in managing the feeling which comes with the success, the thin line eventually gets crossed and all you see is you and not God. There is only one potential problem here, it’s ok to be recognised but the problems come when your heart starts absorbing those praises and you start to think wow, I really did all that, completely forgetting that God deposited those gift in you Himself and He positioned you in that place to fulfil that which he needed to be done.

Having an understand of your purpose makes it easy to understand that you are able to do all only through Christ who strengthens you, Phil 4:13 and you are all that you are only by His grace 1Corinthiaians 5:10 therefore Only God is to be Glorified in those situations where he appears to be using you as a vessel to share His name with others but not his glory.

When God uses you, remember to see yourself as a vessel and the chance as an opportunity and privilege. You need to see it as God using you to accomplish His mission not your mission. It is important to constantly ask God for help to do anything in life and in doing this, you are acknowledging that you can only make it a success through His grace.

No amount of praise can completely give you the satisfaction the heart desires, only God can completely make a person whole and give you perfect peace all around you and that’s why he is called the prince of peace.

This doesn’t just apply to church setting, it includes in our daily lives, our family, our careers, our businesses and everything that surrounds us. God is constantly involved in our daily lives therefore it is important to give all and not some of the glory to Him alone every time.

Let the Glory Be His and the blessing will be yours.
