In Praise of Wisdom
8 Listen! Wisdom is calling out.
Reason is making herself heard.
2 On the hilltops near the road
and at the crossroads she stands.
3 At the entrance to the city,
beside the gates, she calls:
4 “I appeal to all of you;
I call to everyone on earth.
5 Are you immature? Learn to be mature.
Are you foolish? Learn to have sense.
6 Listen to my excellent words;
all I tell you is right.
7 What I say is the truth;
lies are hateful to me.
8 Everything I say is true;
nothing is false or misleading.
9 To those with insight, it is all clear;
to the well-informed, it is all plain.
10 Choose my instruction instead of silver;
choose knowledge rather than the finest gold.
11 “I am Wisdom, I am better than jewels;
nothing you want can compare with me.
12 I am Wisdom, and I have insight;
I have knowledge and sound judgment.
13 To honor the Lord is to hate evil;
I hate pride and arrogance,
evil ways and false words.
14 I make plans and carry them out.
I have understanding, and I am strong.
15 I help kings to govern
and rulers to make good laws.
16 Every ruler on earth governs with my help,
officials and nobles alike.
17 I love those who love me;
whoever looks for me can find me.
18 I have riches and honor to give,
prosperity and success.
19 What you get from me is better than the finest gold,
better than the purest silver.
20 I walk the way of righteousness;
I follow the paths of justice,
21 giving wealth to those who love me,
filling their houses with treasures.
22 “The Lord created me first of all,
the first of his works, long ago.
23 I was made in the very beginning,
at the first, before the world began.
24 I was born before the oceans,
when there were no springs of water.
25 I was born before the mountains,
before the hills were set in place,
26 before God made the earth and its fields
or even the first handful of soil.
27 I was there when he set the sky in place,
when he stretched the horizon across the ocean,
28 when he placed the clouds in the sky,
when he opened the springs of the ocean
29 and ordered the waters of the sea
to rise no further than he said.
I was there when he laid the earth’s foundations.
30 I was beside him like an architect,[a]
I was his daily source of joy,
always happy in his presence—
31 happy with the world
and pleased with the human race.
32 “Now, young people, listen to me.
Do as I say, and you will be happy.
33 Listen to what you are taught.
Be wise; do not neglect it.
34 Those who listen to me will be happy—
those who stay at my door every day,
waiting at the entrance to my home.
35 Those who find me find life,
and the Lord will be pleased with them.
36 Those who do not find me hurt themselves;
anyone who hates me loves death.”

Chapter 8 give us the advice that, wisdom urges human beings to listen to her and promises blessings to those who respond positively. She promises life to those who listen to her as well as favor from the Lord. However, those who fail to find wisdom—those who ignore God’s teaching inflict injury on themselves and love death. They will ultimately be separated from God
Solomon is telling us here that wisdom is the principal thing just as he said in proverbs chapter 1 that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom so therefore we should embrace wisdom and not neglect it …wisdom should be our friend, our family and our companion, from the review of James chapter 1 which says he who lacks wisdom let him ask of God who giveth liberally that means if God grants us wisdom it shouldnt be misused.
Proverb 8
Here wisdom is pleading with us,from a conspicuous or easily noticeable place to anyone willing to learn and glean from wisdom.wisdom is truthful and contain no deceit and it has been with God before the earth was (Jesus)———-which is Jesus the wisdom of God.
The characteristics of wisdom from God like : hatred for pride,evil,arrogance,false words .Intact no one can succeed without help of wisdom.
In this chapter,we are told that wisdom is available to all who needs it. It doesn’t just come,we have to work towards achieving it. To get wisdom,we must open our hearts and minds to receive it. Wisdom is appealing to us all to come receive it cos we all need wisdom in our everyday lives.
In this chapter, Wisdom is crying unto us and it indicate its usefulness to our lives. So to dwell in it, one has to open his heart so as to take perfect control. Shalom……. Peace
This is one of the central texts in the book of Proverbs expressing a notion that has implications throughout Scripture, from Genesis 1 through the New Testament, especially John 1. As was the case in Proverbs 1:20-33, wisdom is personified as a woman, perhaps reflecting an actual practice of women street preachers or teachers. As in 2:1-6, wisdom is a treasure to be sought (8:10-11, 19). Right relationship to God is a component of this wisdom, here described as “the fear of the LORD” (1:7; 9:10). Wisdom is described as the means by which God carries out God’s activity of sustaining and guiding humans, in this case rulers (8:15-16).
What is truly astonishing about wisdom as described here is that wisdom is said to have been present at the time of “beginning” participating in creation. The creating activity of wisdom is described in verses 23-31, which follow. This speech of Woman Wisdom ends with a declaration of the joys of those who find her. In contrast to the women of chapters 5 and 7, whose ways end in death, those who find Woman Wisdom find life and favor from the Lord.
The Great and lovely message I received in this chapter 8 is in 17 to 12,,it is better to get wisdom than rubies,the wisdom of God does wonders
This chapter make me understand that the fear of God should cause us to depart from evil and to hate sin that displeases Him and destroys us and those we love and to fear the Lord is to regard Him with holy awe and reverence and to honour God as God because of His great glory , holiness ,majesty and power….
This chapter tells us that wisdom is the principal thing, its needed in every facet of life.
You can get wisdom wherever you are only if you are willing. We only need to ask and be willing to have it.
It also explains the benefits of having wisdom, they are numerous, the promises are forever at the same time it tells of how one can lose that wisdom even after getting it, the dangers associated with it. I pray we don’t lose Gods given wisdom. Amen
Day 6:Proverb 6:1-5: Here we see that Solomon is talking about the power of wisdom, our sin,our care free attitude can lead us into bondage,but it is the power of prayer that can save us from devil,we need wisdom as our shield and prayer as our guide to overcome the power of enemies in our lives.
Proverb 6:6-15 Now we are asked to follow the right path in other to stand against the deceit of our enemies,and again we see that the only thing that can save us from entering into bondage of the wicked ones is prayer,as a Christian, if you lose your Christian life,your prayer life,you lose your authority in Christ Jesus. Those in Satanic bondage now are there because of spiritual laziness, ( laziness to pray,fast and to watch our Christian life) ,King Solomon mentioned so many things that can affect Christians that can’t sacrifice their time to pray without ceasing.
Proverb 6:16-19 We were told to follow the pattern of our Author and the finisher of our faith so that we will have power to desist from what can destroy our Christian life and make us to lose our position before GOD as Lucifer did,this will not be our portion in Jesus name Amen.
Proverb 6:20-29 We must keep our father’s commandments, cherish and value it as well, because they serve as a lamp to our feet to walk in the darkness and tread upon serpents which are strange women,we are told not to list after strange women, if we following God’s instruction, we shall never fall into their trap,devil lures Christians into sin through deceit ,be ware be guided and be watchful, God will help us in Jesus name Amen.
Proverb 6:30-35 Don’t despise others,especially your fellow Christians,when they fall into temptation, pray for them and watch your spiritual level as well, don’t lose your position before God because you may not regain it for life,don’t allow flesh to put you into spiritual and physical bondage,may we continue to live our for Christ Jesus Amen
Day 7: Proverb 7:1-14 Solomon is advising us here that as a child of God, we should keep the commandments of God, because it is by keeping His commandments that we will grow in His words,we should embrace wisdom of God so that we will not fall as a victim int strange women hands,many Christians have backslide today because they lack wisdom of God, they have derailed because of lacking of wisdom of God in their lives,many among the youths have fallen through adultery,many have been deceived through worldly things including strange women, many have lost their glory through this,many have lost their relationship or marriage through this acts because they can’t control themselves,May the Lord help us.
Proverb 7:15-22 Our Christians brothers have been deceived through the pretence of these young ladies,some of these daughters of Jezebel,presented themselves as Christian sister to them in other to take their glory and put them into eternal bondage,May God help us in Jesus name Amen.
Proverb 7:23 Another thing again is that they look for different ways to devour their prey,let’s be guided by the word of God.
Proverb 7:24-25 We should all hearken unto God’s voice and attend to the word of His mouth so that we will not go astray.
Proverb 7:26-27 Let’s learn from our past leaders in the Bible. Samson as a case study (Judges 16:20) The Nazarite of God now became blind (Judges16:21)he was blind spiritually to the things of God and he found his abode in hell.may God help is all.
Day 8:Proverb 8:1-9 Now two things together, whosoever that have wisdom must have understanding, you get wisdom by praying for it,after getting it,you will be privileged to hear understanding voice, understanding cries out to everybody to gave it at all cost, a bonafide Christian will embrace understanding and have an understanding heart,whosoever possess the spirit of understanding will have a good relationship with God.
Proverb 8:10-13 You will be able to receive God’s instruction once you have the spirit of understanding, there is nothing on earth you can compare wisdom and understanding with, anybody with these spirits will have the fear of God and will hate evil and forsake evil way .
Proverb 8:14-17 Whosoever that wants to speak among the people of authority, that wants to have his/ her seat among the great men,must possess wisdom and understanding.
Proverb 8:18-21 Richie’s and honour belong to our God, the one without stress,but all these things are for those who are in Christ Jesus, it is those those who are still on the right path that will inherit all these promises,let’s endeavor to walk on a right path as from today,so that we will not lose our reward in Christ Jesus.
Proverb 8:22-29 Here we see our Lord Jesus Christ telling us about Hus existence, so that we will recognize and accept Him as the giver of all good things.
Proverb 8:30-31 God leaves a good example for us here as an obedient servant to His mater,and He delights in your success because this is the part of your inheritance in Him.
Proverb 8:32-35 Now imploring we His children to listen to His voice, keep His way, be wised against the deceit of devil and by doing we these things, we shall find Him and once we find Him,we will obtain long life and favour from Him.
Proverb 8:36 This is for those who rejects Him and rejects His commandments. I pray that at the end of our journey here on earth, we will not miss heaven in Jesus mighty name Amen.
Proverb 9:1-6 We are invited to dine and wine with wisdom and understanding everyday, this means we should forsake the foolish act and embrace wisdom and so we may live long.
Proverb 9:7-9 It is the wisdom and understanding that you have obtained from God that will be guiding you on when to talk and when not to talk,we need these two things to guide us even when to react and when not to react to things,God will instruct y as a w wise child and will teach you and increase you in learning.
Proverb 9:10-12 Fear of the Lord will be established in your heart and your days shall be multiplied and this will make you to be wiser and you will be useful to your generations.
Proverb 9:13-17 These are the signs to see in the life of a woman that God described as a foolish one in proverb 14:1,they talk when they don’t suppose to talk,they endanger the life of their husband by not bridle their tongues, they lack wisdom of God and they enter into the trap of their enemies including their family, women should learn how to follow the footsteps of our Goldy mother from the Bible, stop broadcasting your husband to you family and friends, learn how to bridle your tongues, may the Lord help us in Jesus name Amen.
Chapter 8
This chapter tells us wisdom is calling for those that have ear let them hear and receive it for it is useful for us which will guard and protect our way in life
Chapter 8: Emphasized on why Wisdom should be inevitable for us to acquire because all our desires will be easier in all ramifications once we do.
Verse 10 is a great verse,God has greater things to give,if we are ready to receive,but what surprise me most is people prefer silver and God,Peter said Gold and silver I have not but what I have I give u,that is God voice.May we all have Grace to receive spiritual gifts from God
The proverb observes the apparent advantages and the disadvantages of porverty it may appear to the casual observer that the rich are secure yet in God’s sight,the treasures of wickedness profit nothing “The sheds clearer light on the state of the rich and poor .”Hath not God chosen the poor if this world rich in faith,and heirs of the kingdom ,and Whether we are poor or rich the Lord’s presence and favour are our greatest wealth .
Lady wisdom of Proverb Chapter eight is a stark contrast from the adulteress of chapter seven. The adulteress was lurking in the streets, hiding in the dark, seeking wayward young men to deceive with her whispering and conniving lips. Lady wisdom is out in the open; she stands proudly in the light, and speaks loudly and clearly. There is no shame in righteousness. She stands in her strategic location (crossroads) and she does all she can to lead travellers down the right path. This reminds me of a passage in Isaiah where God wanted to lead the nation of Israel – who had strayed from His ways – back to His best. He said, “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it’ ” (Isa 30:21). And that’s what we want. We want to know that the path we are taking is the right one. That we are taking the path that leads to God’s best and avoiding the one that leads to destruction. Later on in Proverbs Solomon said, “There is a way that may seem right to a man. But in the end it leads to death” (14:12). Whenever I share scriptures like these I inevitably get the question, “Well Rick, how do I know what to do? How do I hear God’s voice?” That is not a question I can answer quickly. Maybe I will do a series on it some day. But for now, I will say that God’s wisdom is available. Lady Wisdom is raising her voice. She is not hiding from you or anyone. She wants to speak, but most people don’t take the time to listen.
