Will I get all I ask for?

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!”

Memory Verse: “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” John 15:7.

Just like every other word of God, many passages in the scriptures can be easily misunderstood. For unbelievers who either have not come to the knowledge of Christ or have chosen a different path life, it’s clear they won’t or may not have true understanding because they are not Christ Connected and neither in the category of people who can genuinely understand spiritual things. Apostle Paul rightly said in 1 Corinthians 1:18 “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

A believer in Christ is likened to one who has access into a building with the right set of keys or keycode for the door(The name of Jesus), therefore there’s an assumption that the access enables the believer to move freely and do as they desire within that building( Matthew 7:7). The level of authority can however differ for two believers with the same access for various reasons. One being their level of maturity and the other being their capacity amongst various other reasons.

A believer is a person who has confessed that Jesus is Lord and abides by the word of God. The term abide means to access, follow, adhere to the word of God but how then can we abide in that which we do not know or understand? Abiding in God’s word can only happen for those who have knowledge and understand because you cannot follow what you have not heard or seen. God’s wisdom then helps to abide in Him based on the understand of His word.

Those who are not abiding in Christ don’t count as everyone. Everyone is for those who are His followers, Jesus said “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27Those who have access to His name are believers but those who follow Him have attained a different level of access, they are those who can ask for “anything” in His name and receive.

God is our father but there are different privileges we may be entitled to, even though we have the same access code “ The Name Of Jesus”.

We can increase our level of access if me move from an ordinary believer to a follower of Christ.
