Positioned Right!

I will climb up to my watchtower and stand at my guard post. There I will wait to see what the Lord says and how he will answer my complaint.

Memory Verse: You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore, Psalm 16:11.

There are so many desires in a man’s heart and unfortunately the more we achieve some of those, the more the list increases. The needs of man are insatiable. There is just that urge to achieve one thing after another and day after day we just keep striving to get that breakthrough, that major hit that may temporary give us the security, stability and peace that our heart truly desires. Regrettably, we chase after the wind so much that we forget to take our position and be where God expects to meet us simply because we have been carried away by our own need.

The story of Adam and Eve is always a good place to start with positioning. Clearly the scriptures tell us that God created Adam and even then He placed them in the perfect position and pronounced His blessings on them. Shortly after they had disobeyed the Lord, it was difficult to remain where God placed them so when God went to meet with them at their allotted position, they had shifted. The desire of their hearts had moved them away from their designated position and the rest of the verses discussed how their lives went from there, Genesis 3:8-10.

Our position in life goes a long way to determine how far we grow in our relationship with God and how our lives eventually shapes up. A lot of the people we see that were healed by Jesus were strategically positioned and when Jesus passed by, they got their healing or deliverance expect for a few where Jesus was invited into houses for divine miracles.

The important question today is “Am I properly positioned for God?” This is a very important question because unless we are right where we should be, we may not go very far in life or grow in our relationship with God. The beginning might look rosy and we may even be driving the vehicle of our lives by ourselves but what happens when we run out of fuel? Because we will at some point run out whether we like it or not and God is the only one that’s able to refuel us to keep our life going and moving in the right direction. Not only will being in the right position help us continue to move the vehicles of our lives successfully, it will also help us only move in the right direction and help avoid later regrets in life.

Our bible text today gives and account of Prophet Habakkuk taking His position as a prophet waiting to hear from the Lord. This was an intentional move and this move was needed to be able to stay away from all the distractions of the world. When we have expectations from God or are waiting for response to our request from Him, our positioning becomes the most important intentional decision we make whiles waiting. This is what determines if we will hear His voice and be able to take the next possible action out of situation or even just direction to move in the right direction.

The safest place to be is the presence of God Psalm 91. We can never go wrong when in the presence of God plus there is guarantee to be fullness of Joy. In His presence, there is joy, safety, security, direction, encouragement, provision and most importantly Peace. There is no point wondering what direction our life is headed and bothering with the technicalities, just returning to the presence of the Lord and taking our position with Him as our Father will take care of all that. He knows just what to do.
