“When the Lord your God brings you into the land you are about to enter and occupy, he will clear Contentaway many nations ahead of you: The Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites. These seven nations are greater and more numerous than you.”

If you have ever orgainsed a major event or even a small get together then you definitely have an idea of the difference in being the host vs the guest. I guess most people may have planned an event one way are another but we have all definitely been a guest at various events too.
What usually happens is that the host is always stressed before the event due to unending logistics of moving from one place to another. We see that the preparation leading to the event itself is very exhausting and until that event is over, the host is just always most likely tense. The introduction of an event planner takes away almost but not all the stress. Even after paying for an external organisation to plan, somewhere in your mind is still busy doing the planning and hoping things are just as beautiful as you imagined they will turnout.
As the guest you just look nice for the camera, dress up and attend the event. These days if a host uses a verified party planner who is able to gets all their ideas, desire and execute it perfectly, even the host can walk in on the day of the event looking pretty for the camera with 0% stress, just the same way a guest would.
The event we are all attending is the journey of life as we know it today. There are various events taking place in our everyday lives. There are some which can be likened to small events or major ones which for us may include making life changing decisions but more importantly, either small or big, the question to ask yourself is what is your position in all of this?
Today’ bible verse reveals the position of God in the life of the Israelites. God was going ahead of them into the promise land to clear away every nation in the land He had promise to give to them. Those nations who inhabited the land were people who had established a family there hence it’s impossible for the Israelites to just walk in and take away what belongs to others. For a fact they may get themselves arrested for trespassing if they had tried, but the Lord went right before them to clear seven nations greater and more numerous than Israel, just so His own people can occupy, Wow!
The Lord went ahead of them and handed over the land to them then gave them guidance on how to live successfully in that land. Basically God took the major event in their life, and even gave them extra bonus of how to plan any every event successfully, Read Deuteronomy 7:1-25. God was their verified event planner, all they had to do was go into a land God had already claimed for them, fight battles God had already won for them and occupy successfully with the assurance that God has made everything beautiful for them. One important thing to note is that even though the event planner may have planned the event before the day, the event planner stays put on the day of the event to make sure things go exactly as planned. They stay put until it’s all successful and we see this happen to the children of Israel too. Even after the Lord had gone ahead of them, He was with them fighting the battles until they were completely successful Deuteronomy 7:21-23.
Yes the events in life are overwhelming and without doubt we go through everyday stress but majority of the stress we go through is because we have decided to be our own event planner (life planner). The bible tells us not to worry about anything but pray about everything Philippians 4:6 but we do either the opposite or none of that.
Sometimes we worry about everything and pray about nothing or worry about everything and pray about everything.
Worry – Prayer = Anxiety, Fear, depression, stress
Prayer + Worry= Anxiety, Fear, depression, stress
Prayer – Worry= Peace [ This is where we want to be]
Once you have prayed and are still praying about something, let your heart not be troubled about the if’s. When Moses asked the twelve scouts to explore Cannan, they were happy with the fruit of the land but scared of the inhabitants of the land. Their focus was on the giants except Joshua and Caleb who had peace that if God is going ahead of them then their success is guaranteed Numbers 12: 25-33,13:6-9.
Our position as God’s children is to do everting to be at peace with God, adhering to His word. If He is your life planner, then you are guaranteed success in life if you do not try to alter the events of your life half way.
Remember the success of your journey in life is dependent on your obedience. Do not be the one to disrupt your journey in life, let God go ahead of you in everything small or big, no one is best to guide you living on this earth than the maker of everything Himself Genesis 1.
