“And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word.”
Memory Verse: But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. James 1:22.
The world has been in a confused state for a very long time. It’s been from one occurrence to another and despite all these phases, some people have continually lived in denial. Who would have thought that most of the population in Egypt will not rush out following the people of Israel as a way to exit from Egypt despite seeing all that the Lord had done?
When Moses approached Pharaoh the king of Egypt for the release of the Israelites, it may have sounded like a joke because the magicians could replicate the miracles that Moses and Aaron performed but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods, Exodus 7:12. Despite seeing that, Pharaoh’s heart became harder, and he was more determined to enslave God’s own people. This went on nine times until the tenth time when God Himself brought a disaster upon the land of Egypt. All the firstborns in the land of Egypt (Both human and animals) died including Pharaoh’s, then He let God’s people, the Israelites go, Exodus 12:29-32.
Did Pharaoh have to lose his child to believe in God? The people of Israel who were delivered became worse than those they were delivered from. Despite all that God had done for them, they continue to go in circles with the things of God and took alternative options where it suited them. Elijah was frustrated with the lack of sincerity to God.
There are many Christians who constantly hear God’s word and intentionally refuse to obey that which is said. They continue to selectively obey God’s word and engage in pointless arguments to justify their actions. Blessings from God are not for those who have seen miracles the most or spent most time in the church, the blessings are for doers of God’s word.
Don’t get caught up in the mix, ignorance is not an excuse, your relationship with God is your responsibility.
