Accept & Walk With Christ!

And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ.

Memory Verse: Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12

These days it can be pretty difficult to separate the truth from fabricated lies because those lies appear to be so well presented that if as a listener you are not careful or meticulous, irrespective of being a child of God, you will fall for it and accept the wrong for right.

One of such fabricated saying relates to accepting Christ into our lives. Many say that once you have made the declaration in Romans 10 : 9 which is “confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead”, you are saved forever irrespective of how you live your life. This is an absolute lie which can be taken for the truth by a new covert and living with that understanding is living in danger.

Receiving Jesus by confession and acceptance is what rebirths us and enrolls us into the family of God and as such we are no longer under the bondage sin put us. Having done this, we face a big risk here because as our garment changes to become spotless at the time of accepting Christ the devil who has sound understanding of the kingdom more than most Christians from that moment makes it his special assignment to ensure that new garment is soiled and destroyed.

His mission is mainly to break the link between man and God. He is always soul searching too.

The devil understands that though we may have confessed Jesus with our mouth and say we believe in God with our heart, that declaration is only the beginning and our mind being renewed can only happen when we now begin to follow Christ but most Christians don’t understand this basic truth hence the devil continues to take advantage of us.

The clarity in the word of God is all we need to understand. We need to know how to be correctly positioned and be in the right standing with God. The scriptures according to Colossians 2:6-8 is one of such which clarifies how a Christian’s life should be tailored. We are to accept Christ and continue to follow Him . Follow Him means having a true relationship with him and understanding when He speaks to us in every way John 10:27-28. Following Christ is a continuous process which gradually helps us grow and develop our faith in Him.

No amount of intercession is able to help us grow in Christ as this type of relationship like every other is one which we get involved in intentionally and do all it takes to remain in.

Our faith is required to grow in order to face the battles ahead in life because we know that life is full of all shades of challenges. Christian or not, we will go through all sort of battles but for those who continue to follow Christ, their faith is strengthened and they have the understanding that Christ has overcome the world and irrespective of how blurry things may appear, victory is guaranteed John 16:33.

One very common happening in the world now is the interpretation of the word of God and we see people trying to confuse others about the possibilities of what the bible may or may not mean. The bible is our source of truth and the Holyspirit is the most confirmed teacher who is able to help us understand the mind of God as regards to the word of God. We may not understand when the spirit of God talks to us because we don’t have a relationship with Him hence we are stuck with believing lies from men who have illegitimately positioned themselves as prophets.

The responsibility to live in the light and grow in the way of the Christ rests with us. We are responsible for our growth and our decision is what positions us in a place of growth. When we feed ourselves with the world of God and are filled with wisdom from Him, it becomes impossible to be fed with anything contrary because we already know the truth and are being set free. This is a continuous process and the more we follow Christ the deeper we grow in Him.

We must choose for ourselves how we want to live our lives, following the lead of the Holyspirit and walking in light or following the lead of the world and living in darkness.
