“So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be brought to Him. And when he had come near, He asked him, saying, “What do you want Me to do for you?” He said, “Lord, that I may receive my sight.” Then Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.”

Many times in life we look unto people with an expectation and though we ordinarily think we are prepared for what we requesting for, we often develop a change or shift in attitude once we have positive answers to certain requests and due to our level of understanding of what we now have in our possession, we quickly get distracted.
Few days ago I was reading a chapter from my book of the month titled Rich dad, Poor dad by Robert Kiyosaki, in the book the author wrote about a time when his friend came to him speaking about his son wanting a car. After that conversation it was clear that though his friend’s son was able to drive the car which he requested, he lacked a good understanding of the use of money so there was really no point going all out to spend money buying a car that might become a financial burden on the son.
Instead Robert’s friend took a different approach and in the end the son developed greatly, changing his mentality and understanding, not only about priorities but also knowing the difference between needs and wants.
Often we remain in a place because we really don’t need most of the things we need and funnily we don’t even want them for our own benefit, we want them because someone else has them and so we just generally want to keep up with the rest of the world. Because God is a loving father, He sometimes put us through a learning curve to change our mentality and mindset. He develops us for the journey ahead and like Robert’s friend son, some people may grow to understand that life’s lesson is not punishment but some just don’t.
If God really asked you today, son or daughter what do you want? what would your response be? Do you know what you really desire or you desire the things others have? We see the man who received his sight today knew exactly what he wanted from Jesus and not only did he have the faith to back it, his mind was also in the right place.
Once the man received his sight, he became a follower of Christ and even became an evangelist. His actions brought people to God and all he just did was praise. The man did not begin to brag amongst people or begin to show off his new sight, he just wanted to praise God.
So I ask again what do you really want for God? God sees the end from the beginning and He sometimes withholds things for our own benefit so instead of thinking God is punishing us by not giving us exactly what we asked for, let’s begin to examine the intention behind our request and we may just get something even more better if only we focus on learning.

- Father you for you for another wonderful word of Grace
- Thank you for your unending blessings and open doors
- Help me to focus on you Lord, have a good understanding of wants and needs, and to be knowledgeable that you have my best interest at heart
- Help me from today Lord to focus on you and rise above the distractions of the world
- Help me to be steadfast, unmovable and continue in the mandate which you have assigned to me
- Forgive me of my shortcomings o Lord and help me to live above sin
- Receive my sacrifice of praise for in Jesus mighty name I pray, AMEN.
