Faith Is The Key!

Faith Is The Key!

Bible Text:So the priests blew the trumpets. As soon as the people heard it, they gave a loud shout, and the walls collapsed. Then all the army went straight up the hill into the city and captured it.” Read Joshua 6:2-20 for the full bible story.

Memory Verse:   Hebrews 11:6  “No one can please God without faith, for whoever comes to God must have faith that God exists and rewards those who seek him.”

Since the year commenced, I have found myself constantly searching my spirit and taking time to listen to what the Spirit of God is saying about how to journey through this great year and gracefully, I have found out that God releases various information to prepare me for the journey ahead. God is constantly speaking, instructing and directing and all we need to do is create time to be attentive and remain in sync so we don’t miss out on guidance.

Thank God for GPS innovation, globally we now get a chance to plan our journeys from a starting point to destination using GPS powered maps otherwise known as a navigator. While we have the basic ones with limited features, the advance ones inform about the estimated journey time, paints a picture of what the journey ahead looks like, reported and possible hurdles on the way, updates the exhausted time as we journey through, notifies about pot holes reported, speed camera spots, and many more.

Irrespective of all the fanciness, what I realise most times is, with all that information we have at hand, the journey time in some cases tends to increase either because of unforeseeable disruption en-route, issues with the vehicle used for commuting, or another absurd driver deciding to cause chaos. All these factors and more have an impact on the length of the journey which means we either get to our destination longer than anticipated or change our mind not to progress with the journey at all. Sometimes, a faster route is even found.

Life as we know is a journey and God is the GPS. He is consistently meeting our needs and navigating us when we let Him, but one capability he has not equipped us with is knowing the full dossier of our Journey on earth right from the start. Hence he promised us a future and a hope as we journey through because only Him knows all from the beginning to the end. The journey of life is not that transparent like a car journey, it is more unpredictable because we most times cannot see or know what’s ahead of us. We just make plans, stay hopeful and move towards it holding on to a very important ingredient, “FAITH”, because nothing is certain. With all that uncertainty, we as Children of God have a guarantee that there is hope in the future.

This takes me to the Israelites story of moving out of Egypt. The Israelites were the most joyful at the point of departing the territories of King Pharaoh and they never expected to meet a brick wall such as the red sea. In their mind, it was meant to be a straight forward journey because if God could rescue them from the tyrant, then the remaining part which is journeying to the promised land is a walk in the park. They moved in faith but the faith dwindled when the red sea was before them and the chariots of Pharaoh was behind them chasing to recapture them into slavery. But God showed Himself because He has promised them a future, he done so by parting the red sea, making the Israelites walk through on dry land and causing the Pharaoh’s Egyptian chariots to perish in the same sea when it closed up after them, Exodus 14.

Likewise, it’s still the same God and listening to His spirit is saying is paramount in the year 2020 Journey. The act of waiting to hear from Him on every move and being attentive is “having faith”. You might not know the hurdles on the way, but He has promised to be with you all through. He said in Isaiah 43:2 that when you pass through deep waters, I will be with you; your troubles will not overwhelm you, when you pass through fire, you will not be burned; the hard trials that come will not hurt you.

I encourage you to move in faith this year and continue to seek God on all fronts, before every step and in every situation. Know what He’s saying about that project you are about to embark on, or about that idea you are running with or opportunity you are taking on. You might get weakened on the journey from fighting fit and wrestling challenges, but with your faith as the key, God will come through for you. He never leaves but rewards those who diligently stay and not stray away from Him. Remember Jericho was taken by faith, Joshua 2:6-17, I believe with God on your side couple with your unshakable faith in Him, you will take 2020 victoriously.
