After saying all these things, Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son so he can give glory back to you. For you have given him authority over everyone. He gives eternal life to each one you have given him. And this is the way to have eternal life to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth. I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.
Memory Verse: “So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31.
God is amazing, His depth and strengths are limitless. He specialises and masters in all things, one of which is making the impossible become possible. It’s no news that this world is full of broken people who have given up due to the load of impossibilities which have weighed them down. Everyday there are situational happenings that just makes it almost impossible to live peacefully and a combination of things are clearly contending with the joy, peace and happiness God has given to us.
In order to grow a healthy relationship with God, you must be dead to pride, self-exaltation and boasting; lines which are tempting and easy to cross. Let’s paint a scenario of where you minister in your local church and the spirit of God moved mightily through you. A lot of lives touched and testimonies of healing, deliverance and people giving their lives to Christ comes in almost immediately; a great sign that your ministration was a massive success. Soon after that ministration, everyone starts hailing you and appreciating you on how amazing you were and even the Pastor referenced your powerful ministration during one of his sermons. Suddenly you started enjoying the attention afteralll everyone has evidence for the successful ministration.
It is ok to be recognised but potential problems start to emerge when your heart starts absorbing those praises making you think wow I really did all that? Then you find yourself gradually and almost completely forgetting that God deposited that gift in you Himself and He positioned you in that place to fulfil that which he needed to be done.
Having an understanding of your purpose makes it easy to comprehend that you are only able to do all things through Christ who strengthens you, Philippians 4:13, and you are all that you are only by His grace, 1Corinthiaians 5:10. So therefore, only God is to be Glorified in those situations where He appears to be using or have used you as a vessel to propagate His word and win souls to His kingdom through miracles, signs and the rest alike.
When God uses you, remember He uses you to accomplish His mission not your mission! It is therefore important to constantly ask God for help, guidance and direction in every areas of life, acknowledging that you can only make it a success through His grace.
No amount of praise can completely give you the satisfaction the heart desires. Only God can completely make a person whole and give you perfect peace all around you. That’s why He is called the Prince of Peace.
This doesn’t just ONLY apply to church settings, it includes our daily lives too not limited to your family, your career, your business and everything that surrounds you. God is constantly involved in your daily life therefore it is important to give all and not some of the glory to Him alone every time.
