Then the Egyptians all of Pharaoh’s horses, chariots, and charioteers chased them into the middle of the sea. But just before dawn the Lord looked down on the Egyptian army from the pillar of fire and cloud, and he threw their forces into total confusion. He twisted their chariot wheels, making their chariots difficult to drive. “Let’s get out of here away from these Israelites!” the Egyptians shouted. “The Lord is fighting for them against Egypt!” When all the Israelites had reached the other side, the Lord said to Moses, “Raise your hand over the sea again. Then the waters will rush back and cover the Egyptians and their chariots and charioteers.” So as the sun began to rise, Moses raised his hand over the sea, and the water rushed back into its usual place. The Egyptians tried to escape, but the Lord swept them into the sea. Then the waters returned and covered all the chariots and charioteers the entire army of Pharaoh. Of all the Egyptians who had chased the Israelites into the sea, not a single one survived.
MemoryVerse: The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm. Exodus 14:14
We all experience fear and doubt at various stages in life therefore there is always going to be a stage where we will generally think we are on our own and have to fight our battles alone. At this lone times or what we assume is a lone time, the level of our doubt increases because God who is invisible now appears also silent.
People around you who read your behavior and attitude may also start questioning your sanity and struggle to see why you still focus on pressing on with God. For some, it’s only a matter of time before they start to analyse the risk and cost of their belief and begin to think of alternative paths just in case God has forgotten them.
The First thing to understand as a Christian is that the devil steps up his game daily and speaking to my dad a few days ago he used the word “The Devil advances himself daily”. That statement is absolutely correct considering our phones, tablets, computers and all gadgets go through updates every now and then. It is therefore good to prepare our minds that our enemies all around us are constantly updating. They are working round the clock to find new ways to make you fall, steal you joy and destroy you.
I love the song “Jehovah sees” by Ron Kenoly, I find myself playing it over and over again when I face certain challenges because God sees everything. He sees the attack from the enemy that is putting you in a position of pain, struggle, discomfort and the rest alike. Unlike the devil and our devices, God doesn’t need updating. Psalm 24:1 says “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world and all its people belong to him.” God is omnipotent and all knowledge comes from Him our creator, therefore he knows even the latest updates that will come in 20 years if Jesus tarries.
Sometimes God allows the enemy to attack us like in the case of Job, Job 1:12 and he sometimes allows us to be tested just like Jesus in Matthew 4:1-10 and in all those times it could be for various reasons such as glorifying God through us, building our maturity and strength, building the experience we later need to support other believers when they go through difficult times and the rest alike. We need to become aware that when the enemy decides to attack you; a child of God on their own, then they have set up a fight with the Most High God your maker who defends you zealously.
In Psalm 83:2-3, when the Psalmist was under an attack he said “Don’t you hear the uproar of your enemies? Don’t you see that your arrogant enemies are rising up . They devise crafty schemes against your people; they conspire against your precious ones.” This is the confidence we have knowing that if we are indeed Children of God, then the battle is His.
Having read a few books in the bible I have come to realise we can never fight our own battles in life. You are just never strong enough to fight back and that’s usually the case, it’s either the enemy has more armies in their camp or they come get you when they think you are vulnerable. In light of this, when we call on God, He always fight those battles because an attack on you is an attack on God.
If God has not come through yet for you then it’s either one of these
1. You are still fighting your battles yourself and therefore have not handed it over to God
2. It’s not the appointed time for God.
God always comes through for us His children no matter the situation and just like he did for the Israelites, He will come through for you in Jesus Name.
Remember be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of your enemies, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 3:16.
