Bible Text: Matthew 13:10-11,13   His disciples came and asked him, “Why do you use parables when you talk to the people? “He replied, “You are permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, but others are not. That is why I use these parables, for they look, but they don’t really see. They hear, but they don’t really listen or understand.

Memory Verse:  Matthew 13:12 NLT  “To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them.”

Growing up was a lot of fun and I could specifically say it was a privilege growing up with a mother like mine, who possess excellent and exceptional qualities and is equally a friend and disciplinarian. She spoke in ways and styles only her kids could understand and that simply meant we looked out for every move she made while are out and about. She was more of a coded person to her children, using little words, gestures and looks. All these we understood and we had to respond to them immediately, else the rest is history when we get back home.

Many years after, when I seat with friends to have a similar conversation, I realised it was same for most of my friends. The key was that only children born of same mother only understood what certain signs made by their mum meant, as the same sign could mean different things in different families.

Today we see what happens with those in Jesus’s inner court, His families on earth whom He moved around with and spent His adult life around until death. Jesus spoke in certain ways which were not always clear to everyone; He spoke in parables. Those parables were meant to be understood only by not just believers but “His Disciples”.  He made it clear to His disciples that certain things are secret, and those things cannot be understood by the wisdom of men. In one word, the secret of the kingdom of Heaven are only to be understood by the chosen.

Have you ever wondered why you have conversations or see things differently from other people? You ever thought of why sometimes questions you about something you think should be rather straightforward? This is because God has enriched you with a level of wisdom and given you that deep understand of the kingdom. Unless the Holy spirit open’s the questioner’s eyes, ears and heart of understanding, they will never understand.

Being a child of God is an absolute privilege and this places you on the path to do great exploits because you are God’s chosen. Understanding the rudiments and secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven means you are definitely on the right path, it is a secret key to those on the Lord’s side.

According to Philippians 3:12-14, do not be counting yourself to have attained, you need to keep running towards the Goal. Your continuous listening and dwelling on the word of God is key and this keeps you positioned for acquiring knowledge in abundance. Once you detach from the word of God which is the source of truth, you fall into the category of the large crowd who has little knowledge, and sometimes what they have is drained off them leaving them walking empty.

No one is too old or mature for learning, they day you stop learning is the day you start your journey to becoming obsolete. The wisdom of today might not be sufficient to deal with tomorrow’s issue. God’s word is fresh, alive and active every day. What it means today might differ from the message it conveys tomorrow, you must remain connected to the source, no one graduates from the Kingdom of heaven. If you lack wisdom, ask God!
