Prison To Glory!

Bible Text: Genesis 42:6 “Now Joseph was governor over the land; and it was he who sold to all the people of the land. And Joseph’s brothers came and bowed down before him with their faces to the earth.” Read Genesis 41

Memory Verse: John 1:5 NKJV “And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”

Life can be a mix of all things, it brings all sorts of what people call surprises to the table from time to time and often what seems like a completely hopeless situation could experience that unexpected turn around to become the breaking news on TV.

Yesterday we looked at the life of Joseph. The devotional covered the lifecycle of a man who kept focus on God despite the unpalatable direction his life was going towards. Today, take a look at the final movement that got him into prison and then to his ultimate breakthrough.

Joseph was sent to prison based on false accusations Genesis 39, as if his life had not been complicated enough, he happen to be the only one person that trouble followed around from pillar to post since he was a boy; he was like that bad smell which lingered around. Joseph never had a straightforward life, his mother, Racheal had to wait for 3 other women to birth children for the man she loved and having patiently persevered, Joseph was born, a product of many years of waiting.

The moment It was evident that His father Israel loved Joseph in a special way, his life began to attract jealousy from his brothers and this led to him being sold on as a slave. Interestingly, this hatred led him as a slave to Pharaoh’s house, all part of God’s plan for him. Though not palatable and looked like the worse event in Joseph’s life, it was all a stepping stone to his glory. This could be similar to us and what we going through. God always has the best plans for us, but when the tough time comes, it can be difficult to digest it and accept its God’s plan but we need to understand as long as we are on God’s side and we are prayerful, He has a plan for us and is taking us through a process. Remember you cannot have a story without going through a process.

I am sure if I or yourself were Joseph, we would be filled with much hate and bitterness, we would have hated being sold, but as Joseph became a slave to Pharaoh’s Officer of the guards; Potiphar, Genesis 39:1 he accepted that choice and that was all part of his processing as God was training him up in pharaoh’s palace in readiness for the role of the prime ruler over the entire land of Egypt Genesis 41:41; and this was without Joseph’s knowledge.

From a slave, God’s plan was to make Joseph a superior to everyone, even Potiphar’s himself, a purpose which God achieved in the end. You might be going through some hurdles at the moment, it is good to ask God and seek his face regarding the reason why you are going through these.

God might not tell you the end plan, but he will give you that confidence in your heart that He is working on something. Believe that if it is an enemy attack for no good course, He is also capable of ending the sabotage of the enemy.

We see the story of Jesus having to come down from heaven to earth to give you and I the gift of salvation. The process was not colorful, he was scotched, abused, bruised, attacked, loved and accepted by some, betrayed, and so many other negatives which supersedes the positive, but the purpose was fulfilled in the end, giving you and I the chance to enjoy eternal life when the time comes.

Sometimes, the path to glory is not always pretty. What is threatening your peace right now could be God’s development and growth strategy for you while he continues to prepare you for that purposeful glory; seek His face, wait patiently and ask for grace not to give in or give up.

Can light shine where there is already light? Light will only shine out of darkness. With God, you are living in light and no matter what it may seem, you are on the right path to your glory if you stay on the Lord’s side.

PRAYERS:

  • Father I thank You for another wonderful day in your presence
  • I receive the grace to wait patiently on you all through this year 2020
  • Help me to fulfill the purpose for which you have created me, let not my dreams be cut short or my destiny die in Jesus name.
  • Father, give me a new song and let me never be weary, faint or fall in the Journey of life
  • Forgive my iniquities Lord and let your mercy prevail over judgement
  • Thank you Father and in Jesus Name I Pray, Amen.
