Bible Text: John 8:12 Jesus spoke to the Pharisees again. “I am the light of the world,” he said. Whoever follows me will have the light of life and will never walk in darkness.”
Memory Verse: Job 38:15 “The light disturbs the wicked and stops the arm that is raised in violence.”
Have you ever tried walking around in the dark? If you have, I suppose it must have been a troubling experience, because as the lights are out, you are most likely to bump into so many things, possibly get injured too in the process if extra care is not taken in your movement, injuries which you can only see when you get a glimmer of light even if it’s just a touch light.
There is such a huge difference between light and darkness! Just looking at a few of them, we see that God causes a separation between light and darkness and has since made light have dominion over darkness from the beginning. Genesis 1:2-4 tells us the state of the earth before God made His first change as recorded in the bible. Until God spoke light into existence and caused a separation, the earth was covered in complete darkness.
The life of human can be likened to the state of the earth in Genesis 1:2. A life without Jesus is just a life without form, direction, without light and could be said to be in darkness. At that state man is controlled by the flesh and easily enticed by the things of the world. Also easy to say is that while actively experiencing day and night, such people have no appreciation of living in the light as they have well mastered the act of navigating live through darkness.
Darkness doesn’t have different shades, darkness is darkness and God created light to make darkness disappear hence He sent Jesus to the world and saw His only son crucified so that we can have light.
The death of Jesus was the beginning of a new life for the children of God, a move which called us all out of darkness into His marvelous light. Jesus said this Himself in all clarity, following Him means you never have to walk in darkness again. Apostle Paul mentioned in the letter he wrote that we are not to continue living like the unbelievers whose minds are in the dark. They have no part in the life that God gives, for they are completely ignorant and stubborn, Ephesians 4:18.
Everyone needs Jesus to take the darkness of sin away, it’s that simple. The light Jesus illuminates in your life helps you see life from an absolutely different perspective. Every darkness is exposed in your life and your constant walking in the light disturbs the wicked from having a hold on your life. When you live in the light, it makes it difficult for darkness to hide hence the wicked are constantly exposed when they come close to you.
The light of Jesus is yours freely, you have access to what it takes to transition from darkness to light. Jesus is the real light who gives you constant supply with no interruption, and most importantly, it is a free supply.
Don’t procrastinate the acceptance of this light. Tomorrow might be too late, although He will not force it on you, it is still best to choose live in His light rather than walk in darkness.
PRAYERS:
- Father I thank You for calling me out of darkness into your marvelous light
- I surrender all to you O Lord, help me to live in the light for the rest of my life, let me never forsake you for the love of the world
- Help me to win souls to your winning side and let my light so shine before men so they can glorify you in heaven and be encouraged to the winning side
- Forgive my iniquities Lord and let your mercy prevail over judgement
- Thank you Father and in Jesus Name I Pray, Amen.
