Bible Text: Exodus 8:18-19 “The magicians (soothsayer-priests) tried by their secret arts and enchantments to create gnats, but they could not; and there were gnats on man and animal. Then the magicians said to Pharaoh, “This is the [supernatural] finger of God.” But Pharaoh’s heart was hardened and he would not listen to them, just as the LORD had said.”
Memory Verse: Job 5:12 “He frustrates the devices and schemes of the crafty, So that their hands cannot attain success or achieve anything of [lasting] worth.”
All power belongs to God in heaven on earth and beneath it and this remains an undisputed point which will be a waste of time to be deliberated on. Even though the world does have a scientific explanation on how things happen and how the earth and its content came to form, the fact still remains that God is God and He is the creator of the whole universe. Whiles it seems obvious that the hands of God is involved in most things in life, some till today simply can’t make sense of it so they attempt to reason things out by turning to science until they find something that makes sense to them physically. God created the physical but He is more than just the physical.
Whiles God allows some things to happen, He is still the one in charge of it all. At times, situations occurring in our lives puts us in a position where we want answers hence we begin to search and think about various ways to make sense out of it. As much as God is constantly speaking to us on His plans and intentions for us, one thing He doesn’t tells us is the exact way in which his plans will play out and gets implemented.
Today’s bible reading opens my eyes to a whole new perspective about things. Although God instructed Moses and Aaron, He backed them up by honoring His word through signs and wonders, God did not pre notify Moses and Aaron about the Egyptian magicians’ abilities to replicate most of the miracles to make it look really easy, but what occurred in the end was God being victorious out of it all. It played out unexpectedly to Pharaoh and his magicians’ expectations. Hence every theme there was a Miracle, a magic followed which kept on giving pharaoh a doubting mind. He bowed in the end and let God’s people leave Egypt.
When God’s “own time” to take all glory came, same as the time in Cannan of Galilee where water was turned into wine, He frustrated the powers of the magicians so that they could no longer perform any magic. He wasted their effort and in no time they voiced out “This is the [supernatural] finger of God”. At that time King Pharaoh’s support system was beginning to crash, making him vulnerable and everything he depended on had hit the rocks. There was no need to continue calling his magicians anymore as they had given up on trying to contend with God’s power.
The enemy is very stubborn and this might mean your life might sometimes get to a frustration zone. This is because they have been build, trained and designed to never give up pursuing you and trying to overtake you, their resilience is out of this world, but there is good news for you. You must caption this in your mind and make it a watchword that from the very beginning of time, darkness has never prevailed over light so as long as you remain on God’s side who is the Father of lights, be rest assured that no matter how much or long it takes, the enemy will surely bow and you will come out on the winning side.

- Father I thank you for a wonderful week just concluding
- I pray for the grace to remain on the winning side, never to give in or give up
- I receive the power to come out victorious in every challenge and situations facing me
- Forgive my iniquities Lord and let your mercy prevail over judgement
- Thank you Father and in Jesus Name I Pray, Amen.
