Blinded By The World!

Then Jesus told him, “I entered this world to render judgment to give sight to the blind and to show those who think they see that they are blind.” Some Pharisees who were standing nearby heard him and asked, “Are you saying we’re blind? “If you were blind, you wouldn’t be guilty,” Jesus replied. “But you remain guilty because you claim you can see.

Memory Verse: Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. 2Corinthias 4:4a

The world is a beautiful but very confusing and above all a big distraction from God’s kingdom to so many people. It even gets worse with the level of ignorance we live with day to day and the transfer of such ignorance from one generation to another is disturbing. Generally, the human mind has a set of beliefs and weather they are right or wrong, individuals hold unto those beliefs and go all out to protect their understanding be it right or wrong. They preach those beliefs, boldly enact them and back them up with what seem true to them; and if care is not taken it is easy to get misled. We know for sure that Eve made sense out of her conversation with the devil and progressed with what she assumed was the right decision.

All the speed and phases of advancement in the world comes with a price to pay. Looking deeper into the world we see that nothing that looks free on this earth is truly free except that which has been released from heaven to us by God.  An English man will say “there’s no such thing as a free lunch”. The only real free things we see are pretty much the most important things and without being deceived only God is able to give those too. Life, Salvation and Peace being the three most important thing which God has given free. Why then do we clearly see the truth but turn a blind eye?

As simple as it may sound, it’s not really simple. We are simply living in a generation of people who are blinded by the world. Is this new? No this has always been the case. The bible refers to Noah as the only righteous man in his generation. Basically in the whole world, only one man was not blinded by the world. The United Nations estimates the world’s population at 7.8 Billion and according to worldometer this is just an estimate of which only 31.4% are Christians. This analysis tells us that 68.6% of those who are currently on earth either have no understanding of the world of God or have just like the Pharisees assumed they are in the right path and can see.

The 31.4% of the population who say they are Christians are not a true reflection of those who observe true worship but those who have penciled down Christianity as their religion. This puts the numbers up tremendously of those who are not spiritually blind. The foundation for spiritual blindness is lack of understanding of the word of God and failure to believe that Jesus is Lord.

The love of the world leaves people in a state of spiritual blindness because their heart only really beats for the things of the world. But we children of God know that we abide in God and He in us through Holyspirit who lives in us. There can be a transformation today and we can truly begin to see things the way God sees them if only we can shift our attention from the desires of the world and focus on God.

There is more danger if we claim we can see yet remain blind because as such there is no avenue for God to work. Such people already believe so much in their current state as if they were in the light and unless they accept they are blind and are going in the wrong direction, it can be difficult to navigate them back. This is truly the danger and we see that only Noah and His family were saved of the entire population of the earth.

An individual may have clear understanding of everything in the world but be spiritually blinded. This kind of blindness is very common and the devil is very happy to continue to press for most people to remain in this phase but Jesus is able to give you the right balance in life. You can have both spiritual and physical understanding and this is God’s desire for His creation but you have to be willing to move to this stage of perfection.

Though Satan may have blinded the eyes of many but Jesus is able to give you sight and remove you from darkness.
