Praying for others!

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus.”

One quality gift you can give to another is praying for them. Interceding for others is a kind of gift money cannot buy. Although we know it’s the duty of ouŕ religious leaders to pray for us, we also have a duty to pray for others including our constitutional and spiritual leaders.

Prayers play very significant, vital, imperative, essential and critical role in peoples lives. It has the power to turn things around and even heal from within. At times, we get very selfish with our prayer requests, forgetting to include the people around us. If I may ask; How many of us write down new year desires to include a friend or neighbour’s need? in the list of what we want God to do for us and our family before year end how many include the desires of another as part of the list? How many of us take time out to invest in other people’s lives in the place of prayer?

The word of God in Philippians 2:3-4 says “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others”. The bible speaks of many important intercessors but the most important of them all is our Lord Jesus Christ who is seated on God’s right hand constantly intercedimg on our behalf. His intercession and mercy is what we benefit from today. His grace which we simply are not deserving of is what we enjoy today because Jesus is our faithful backbone.

Praying for others increases and spreads love. Mathew 5:44, When you spend quality time praying for others, it not only impacts their lives and heal you, it also helps to shape up your attitude towards people around you. Overall it helps you generate positive energy, become compassionate and genuinely concerned about other people’s well-being.

Jesus said in Act 20:35 ” ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Don’t get carried away with your own needs and worries that you forget or fail to pray for others. It’s extremely important that we pray for one another. Logically when you pray for others, you are indirectly praying for yourself because the affirmations and declarations proceeds from within you.

Who have you prayed for today? and who are you praying for daily? Who are you leaving in God’s hands? Remember Job was twice blessed when he prayed for his friends, Job 42:10. Start Praying!

Prayers:

  • Father I thank you for your grace that is sufficient for me.
  • Thank you Jesus for interceeding continuously on my behalf.
  • Father help me to pray without ceasing from today. Make me an intercessor O Lord and the grace to tarry in your presence praying for others be given to me from today IJN.
  • I pray for my family, friends, neighbours and loved ones that they will come to the understanding of you, love You more, love their neighbours as themselves and interceed for others.
  • Thank you Lord Jesus. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.
