“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,”
Memory Verse: “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
Usually we hear and see the good, bad and the ugly sides of life which means there are some occurrences and happenings that are next level from bad. These ugly things are cases that are classed as beyond repair, a category which to every human knowledge has become a write off and unless by miracle, it’s simply called impossible by human.
Jesus went through all these various stages as well while on earth in flesh, He faced so much adversities, therefore it is important to understand that as Christ followers, we inherit his enemies as well and if the world could go any length to persecute Jesus then we are not immune from the attacks of the enemy.
The world hated Jesus without a cause and it’s expected that we will receive the same treatment mostly when we refuse to be subjects of the path to destruction, “But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, ‘They hated Me without a cause.” John 15:25.
Just like Jesus, we can rest on the strength of the word of God. The bigger picture for us is not the current situation but what God will use that situation to do which is to glorify Himself. We can however not go through the bad and ugly stages without being prepared ahead. It’s not a question of will those times come, it’s a question of when they do and only those who are scripture, spirit and amour filled will be able to stand strong in the days of adversity and emerge victorious.
Because our battle is not against flesh and blood, to stand against spiritual power and principalities under the leadership of the devil, we need to be spiritually armed. We are to face the battle fully ready to fight for victory like Jesus did. There are only two option in these battles and our only chance of progression is to win else the devil takes advantage of our weaknesses and uses it as a tool to run our lives.
Jesus tells us ahead to there will be trouble so we can take a stand now in preparing ahead knowing that He has overcome it all John 16:33.
PRAYERS
- Father I thank your unmerited favour blessings and goodness which I daily experience.
- I am grateful for your Love, protection, provision and all that you do for me.
- I receive strength in your word, through prayers and fellowship with you to stand firm and strong in the days of adversity.
- Let me not drown when I go through the storms and let me not be consumed in fiery times
- Thank you for the grace to know you and the power of your resurrection
- Help me Lord to run the race till the end and not lose my crown.
- Forgive me Lord of all my iniquities, bless me abundantly and make me a blessing unto others, in Jesus mighty name I pray, Amen.
