Use It, Don’t loose it!

“For to everyone who has [and values his blessings and gifts from God, and has used them wisely], more will be given, and [he will be richly supplied so that] he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have [because he has ignored or disregarded his blessings and gifts from God], even what he does have will be taken away.” Read Matthew 25:14-30

Memory Verse: “He who is faithful in a very little thing is also faithful in much; and he who is dishonest in a very little thing is also dishonest in much.” Luke 16:10.

A lot has changed in my study life since two years ago when Stay Connected Devotional was inaugurated. Prior to then, I remember making repeated commitment year on year to dwell on the word of God more but simply failing before the year even got into the second gear. I failed year on year and couldn’t attain much progress until the need to write daily devotions came to light. At the time, I only had what to write for the day and a hope for a topic for the next day.

This is where my dependability on God was used effectively. I didn’t want the mission and the vision to die, so I turned to God for inspiration. I realised only God can drop a topic that will touch lives today and will be relevant to write on for the next day and the day after. God made me realise that He has given unto us unlimited resources and we have to determine how much we need from the bank of resources and that was the beginning of consistency in studying the word of God for me.

When Jesus was telling us in Matthew 25 about the Kingdom of God, He first spoke about the ten virgins with the same lamp but different attitudes toward their preparation for the feast with the bridegroom. Their mindset and attitude was what differentiated the wise from the foolish ones but even more interestingly, when Jesus Spoke about the Parable of the Talents, He likened His Kingdom to a man going on a journey and entrusting all he had to his servants. The man trusted those servants of his that he decided they were responsible enough to manage his possessions. What also stood out was that the master knew their ability so he did not overload anyone of them with responsibilities they couldn’t handle. In the end, we see how all three servants managed the talents the master placed in their possession, we see how it all played out. Matthew 25:19-30.

God our father has built a relationship with man right from the beginning of life and we know this because the bible tells us that God spent times with Adam and Even in the garden of Eden Genesis 3:8. God also in His mercy has made provisions for us and has given us various responsibilities which the provisions can effectively and productively meet. Clearly we see that everyone has been given some sort of responsibilities but the decision to either appreciate or rubbish it lays with us. If I were you, I will value it because many are indeed called and to be honest the grace to do well and finish well is there, we just need to tap into it.

Our father is a realist and if He has given you a lot of responsibilities, it’s because He knows your build but you have to decide if you will be lazy and not deliver. With the right mindset like the wise virgins, you will know that what God puts in your care is not a setup for your downfall but for your uplifting. The servant given five talents may not have known that he was capable of multiplying what was given to him until He got to work, see how it played out; He got more in the end and more was even taken from another and given him.

You will never know what you’re capable of until you take the front foot and begin to work with what God has given you. Not only will you multiply your given talents if you put them to use but you also stand a chance to gain interests. God will also take from those who are lazy and add them to your blessing until your cup overflows.

Jesus tells us the harvest is plenty but with only few laborers, Matthew 9:37 what portion of the harvest do you desire?
