- Matthew 15:30
“Then great multitudes came to Him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others; and they laid them down at Jesus’ feet, and He healed them.”
Memory verse: “There are many plans in a man’s heart, Nevertheless the LORD’s counsel—that will stand.” Proverbs 19:21
As humans, we often try to reason out happenings in our lives and some of those moment brings out either the positive or negative in us. The result of dwell on things can habitually make us feel defeated even before we begin the day because we go round in circles trying to understand why things are not happening, why some things are happening and from that instance we start using our own understanding of the situation to device a solution thus not fulfilling the word of God in Proverbs 3:5-6 which encourages us as children of God to “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”
When we say we surrender all to God withholding nothing, we are saying we lay all at the feet of Jesus not temporarily but permanently. When we surrender all, we don’t have to pick it up again and take it away giving the enemy an opportunity to further discourage us or create fear using the situation.
The scriptures show a clear difference in the lives of Abraham and His wife Sarah. Though they were husband and wife, Abraham knew about leaving situations and happenings at God’s feet so even though he has not yet seen the promise of God manifest, Abraham held unto the word of God to depart from His father’s land to place he did not know. At the point of obedience, Abraham had laid his life at God’s feet and God did the rest.
Sarah initially laid things at the God’s feet but then she picked it up again as she decided to give her maid to her husband. She later regretted her decision and insisted that Haggai and her son be chased away and then she was back to where she started only this time she had created a dent in their marriage. Her husband already had a son outside their marriage Genesis 16.
Every time we lay things at God’s feet and pick it up again, we are saying we have a better path to solution which often backfires so we need to remember that “the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”;” I Corinthians 3:19.
Don’t let doubt deprive you of your reward, just lay it at the feet of Jesus.
