Give To Receive!

“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

Memory verse: “And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses”. Luke 12:15.
I have bills to pay and so many other expenses to cover that my wages can’t even sustain me; so how can anyone even tell me to give at a time like this when even I as an individual needs help? This statement may sound very familiar as that’s the natural response to anyone who tells us to give but when will we actually be in a position to give? Will that time or opportunity ever come?

Life is full of so many ups and downs and the more we earn, the more our expenses bracket expand. We naturally want to acquire and so we unknowingly become greedy like the rich fool assuming the fulfilment of life comes from possessing all. And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’ So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods.” Luke 12:17-18.

The reason we may never have enough is because we never give. Giving does not only help the one who receives but helps the giver because it shows full dependency on God. For when we give to others, we have less of us and more of God and we show that we are doers of the word of God.

Christ’s life and blood was shed and given to bring us salvation, and to have eternal life, we give our lives to Christ, Matthew 10:39, likewise to inherit the Kingdom of God, we have to give Matthew 25:35-40 and to live in abundance giving is the key Luke 6:38.

Every time you give anything not randomly but intentionally in obedience to the word of God, you become an investor, like a bank, giving out a loan to heaven and will receive the returns of your investment. “He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, And He will pay back what he has given.” Proverbs 19:17.

Giving is a catalyst to open so many locked doors. In more light it is an investment which even if you don’t reap the benefits while still alive, it will speak for your generations to come. You should start giving today, not just in words, but in times, resources and in all areas in which the Lord guides, directs and has empowered you to give. He that waters shall definitely be watered. Rewards might not come as like for like, but will come where, when and in the best form it is most needed.
