Six For The Price of One!

“So it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, “Because I have asked for him from the Lord.” Now when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bulls, one ephah of flour, and a skin of wine, and brought him to the house of the Lord in Shiloh. And the child was young. Then they slaughtered a bull, and brought the child to Eli. And she said, “O my lord! As your soul lives, my lord, I am the woman who stood by you here, praying to the Lord. 27 For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition which I asked of Him. Therefore, I also have lent him to the Lord; as long as he lives he shall be lent to the Lord.” So they worshiped the Lord there.”

Memory Verse: There is one who scatters, yet increases more; And there is one who withholds more than is right, But it leads to poverty. Proverbs 11:24.

Are you a bargain hunter? Do you enter a store and what grabs your attention are item you see with price cuts or do you just go into the store and completely ignore the sale section? If you’re anything like me, then life has taught me a lesson and I’ll share my experience.

I once walked past a store and saw a beautiful dress on their display window and without thinking much, went into the store and paid FULL PRICE for the item but just one week later, that dress went on sale for less than half the price I purchased it for. I remember clearly that I remained unhappy for a while and all I kept asking myself was why pay full price when you can pay 25% of the money you paid for the item – Lesson learnt!

When this happened and I started thinking, the first question I asked myself was “Do companies still make money when they go on sale”?  Had the biblical Hannah been alive today, she’s someone that could have easily answered that question. The bible records Hannah as someone with great skills, she was a woman who knew and understood God but also she learnt from experience. For Hannah she originally had nothing, then she cut herself a great deal – Lord give me a son and I’ll return him back to You.

To the normal human, that sounded silly but to Hannah her fulfillment came from knowing she was capable of becoming a mother. She had to break the barrier and she needed just one child for that to happen. Hannah understood that giving to God was the beginning to receiving even more so she kept her part of the deal. She had Samuel and when it was time returned Him to the house of the Lord. Then unto the next big move ” And the Lord visited Hannah, so that she conceived and bore three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile the child Samuel grew before the Lord.” 1Samuel 2:21.

Why would Hannah hold unto one child when she could have more? She may have not known she could have six more just like I didn’t know my dress was going on sale but if I had understood the market, I would have known that they had a sale season and it’s about the same time year on year. Hannah knew God and she knew that if He could give her one, He could give her more.

Many times in life we don’t understand the power of our releasing what God puts in our care. We are carried away with what we see yet we expect so much more. The difference between Hannah and Peninah was that they both eventually had kids but Hannah had a son that was worth more than all of Peninah’s children.

When we give what we have to God, He makes it quality. Yes companies still make a lot of money even when they go on sale because they already have strategies in place when setting their pricing policies. God is the head of this Company called earth according to Psalm 24:1 so best believe that He knows exactly how to make our lives profitable.

Will you trust God enough to understand that He can make the one you hold in your hand profitable or will you continually hold unto it?
