When The Tempter Comes!

Then the Spirit led Jesus into the desert to be tempted by the Devil.  After spending forty days and nights without food, Jesus was hungry. Then the Devil came to him and said, “If you are God’s Son, order these stones to turn into bread

Memory Verse:

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13.

The Lord’s prayer is often recited by many Christians round the world and is the best guide to learning how to pray because it speaks the words of Jesus himself and actually instructs us on the way to pray. Jesus was teaching about prayers (The attitude and mindset) and while at it, He gave an example of how to pray, Matthew 6:9-13. Though every part of the Lord’s prayer is interesting but today, we focus on verse 13 of Mathew chapter 6 “And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

One of the most common questions people ask is “Why do bad things happen to good people?” and this is because it almost seems as if being good is a bad thing and being bad is a good way to go. While there is no straight answer to that question, as it’s almost impossible to say why people go through such phases in life, one of the most common answers for a child of God is “because we know the tempter is restless”. The scripture makes us understand that “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly,” John 10:10.

The bible reading today shows us a very interesting time in the life of Jesus, a time when He had fasted and was physically tired. The tempter then surfaced at a time he believed was a weak point and he went about his mission with Jesus. Something more surprising was that the Holy Spirit led Jesus to the destination of the temptation Himself. This is a signal that being led by the Holy Spirit doesn’t mean immunity from trouble.

Every day of our life’s, we will be faced with challenges but the joy of being a child of God is knowing that the tempter will come and try to entice us when he assumes, we are weak but because the our strength is built on Christ the solid rock, We can be like Him, conquer the devil and be delivered from his tricks, all through the spirit of God that lives in us.

Beware! the devil is restless always but always remember God’s word in 1 Corinthians 10:13, You will never be tempted beyond what you can bear and God will always make a way.

He has suddenly removed the cloud of sorrow that has been hanging over my life.  The Sovereign Lord has destroyed death forever! He has wiped away the tears from my eyes and taken away the disgrace /shame/lack/tears/pain /sicknesses i have suffered. The Lord himself has spoken – Amen. Isaiah 25:6-8
