Where dowars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and [war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously?”
Memory Verse: “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. Matthew 6:24
The world is almost impossible to ignore, all things looks bright and beautiful with majority thins looking like gold. How then can we see a world so bright and say its invisible? No wonder the devil acted very smart, the devil took Jesus up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory Matthew 4:8. The bible defines the world as filled with glory and that which can be seen the deeper and higher we go into it but despite all the beauty of the world, we are supposed to enjoy the beauty of God’s glory in the world without paying attention to the world’s glory .
The world and everything in it was created by God and He has placed us right in the middle of it to enjoy and have dominion but He has not given us the instruction to worship them . Jesus whom we all look unto was filled with wisdom hence even as man, He had a clear understanding of God’s place and so despite all the beauty and glory of the world, He payed attention to the people of the world without being corrupted by them.
A few people in the bible lived with understanding Noah and Enoch among others were in the world but had the right focus . The bible talks about the time of Noah as a time when the earth was totally corrupt before God, and filled with violence Genesis 6:11, this was at a time when God was grieved and regretted ever creating man but Noah found Grace because he stood upright and was not soaked into the world. He and he’s home was saved from the only distraction the has ever been since creation and from Noah, the world was recreated.
There can be no trying to redefine or balance the Glory of God with the glory of the world . The Lord created the worlds glory for our benefit but the devil and father of all lies got carried away and has continually deceived all who lack understanding into paying so much attention to the world that they begin to glorify the things of the world. A lot of people have turned away from God but retained empty positions in the household of God and in the world.
We can live in the world and not serve the things created by the world.
PRAYERS:
- Father I thank you for your love and compassion towards me and my household
- Thank you for your grace and unending favor which I daily experience
- I receive the zeal to pay undiluted attention to the word of God every day of my life.
- Empower me O Lord to be obedient to Your commandment
- Forgive my iniquities Lord and let your mercy prevail over judgement
