Are You Prepared To Be Blessed?

“Son of man, they who inhabit those ruins in the land of Israel are saying, ‘Abraham was only one, and he inherited the land. But we are many; the land has been given to us as a possession.’  “Therefore, say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “You eat meat with blood, you lift up your eyes toward your idols, and shed blood. Should you then possess the land?

Memory Verse: “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?” Romans 6:1

Have you ever met people or anyone who feels so entitled? the idea in such people’s head is that weather they deserve things or not, they just should get it. The thought usually evolves from the assumption that they naturally qualify for the said thing. People who have such mindset don’t see a need to act accordingly or strive. The story of the prodigal son shows just how minds of such people operates.

The prodigal son went to his father and said, “I want my share of your estate now before you die.” Luke 15:12. A question remains, who told this son he had any shares? He must have seen all his father has in possessions and since he knew there were only two sons, he already concluded in his mind that he definitely has entitlement, so he requested it.

What he however missed was how much effort went into sustaining that which his father owns. With the-same attitude, he squandered it all within the shortest time possible and was left with nothing.

Many of us Christians are like the prodigal son, we see things from the outside and naturally think we are entitled. With that, we want a lot from God without being actually ready or having a close relationship or understanding of how God works. We still live in every way contrary to the will of God and we say we are descendants of Abraham and should benefit from the promises of God.

God blesses His children because He is merciful and while He remains so ever faithful, we cannot continue to take His grace for granted.

So, it’s a good time to self-examine and ask the question, “Am I truly ready to be blessed?”. The laws fulfilled by Jesus remains a guide for upright living and now we can only become righteous in Christ alone. With our understanding of who God is, we get to know and earn every good thing God has in stock for His children.
