Peaceful Living!

“Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.”

Memory Verse: Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord, Hebrews 12:14

Most times in life all we are in search for is peace or things that will bring us some sort of peace. The least average person will usually tell you what they think, or feel will give them peace. It may be money, some level of security or achievement and so many more. What they may fail to mention is that a few years ago everything they assumed will give them peace is what they have now achieved but interestingly they still don’t have peace the desired peace.

When I was younger, I finished secondary school and immediately knew I wanted to further my education because in west Africa, education was and is seen as a must have in order to be successful in life, so this was non- negotiable with my parents. Over the years, while this is still the believe of many, there are so many university graduates, postgraduates and PHD holders who have remained jobless.

That which was supposed to be the route to success has been altered yet there is the continued human desire for status, possession and the tension has caused a lot of people to change direction. The younger generations are now looking at the older generations and thinking despite their education, their needs and desires are still not met.

Much of the stress and anxiety we put ourselves through is because we have no understanding of the nature of God. The standards men set are constantly changing and evolving with time so it is hugely impossible to live in peace if our desire is driven by the standards of men because with that; we only will keep trying so hard to meet up and playing catch up.

Knowing and accepting that only God never changes according to Malachi 3:6 can help our life produce stability and peace. When we walk with God, He gives us the self-awareness needed to make changes where required and when most importantly at every step, we find peace in knowing that He is in full control of our life.

If God is directing our every step, we will find rest in knowing that though circumstances may change, the end goal for us is success because God is in charge.
