Father, I have Done All!

The man replied, “I’ve obeyed all these commandments since I was young.” When Jesus heard his answer, he said, “There is still one thing you haven’t done. Sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

Read Luke 18:18-25

Memory Verse: He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8.

Decision making is an essential part of our day to day life and in reaching verdicts we seem to have many advisers. In fact, some people have special advisers on different aspects of life and as a result, seem to make the best decisions in life. Such people have positioned, experts who are skilled in their fields and through that they get the best of advice on how to progress with life matters and phases without much trouble or farce. So we can say those individuals do everything they can to live life in the most responsible way. Some things can be planned ahead in life while others just seem to crop up as normal. Even for those unexpected eventualities, there is still someone who can be called on to offer the sound advice on those matters and the quality of their advice is used to reach a rational decision helping to handle things the best way.

Having spoken about advisers and their quality, what happens when we progress and fail? The feeling of having everything in order is good but do we really have everything in order? We are like the religious leaders who had a very interesting conversation with Jesus. The man was clearly up-to-date with all the laws in Exodus 20:1-17 and he had been living His life following those laws expect that he could only understand the laws based on his own understanding and maybe of the understanding of his fellow religious leaders.

Jesus knew the man was still missing the point and Jesus pointed him in the one thing he was lacking without knowing. The commandments were driven by Love and while the man may be a religious leader good at his role, he was still lacking the very main ingredient of inheriting the kingdom of God.

Sometimes we think we have everything under control but we have just become so comfortable within our space that we don’t seem to see where the gap is and at such times we say to the Lord “I have done all, what next?”.  In times like this, if we are in tune with the Holyspirit, we will be guided on how to progress through with life and only then can it become visible to us that what we see as complete still has a lot of missing pieces in the puzzle.

Our special advisors are only able to advise based on the level of wisdom released to them by God and so they may just have covered the surface and not all. Because the Spirit of God knows the mind of the Father, He is able to help us cover every area of our lives in ways that no man will ever be able to.

Except the Holyspirit guides you and you have done all in accordance to the leading of the Holyspirit, then you cannot really say you have done all.

The knowledge of man is limited and to progress and attain excellence, we need someone more knowledgeable than every man living to guide our part and that’s is the place of the Spirit of God Isaiah 30:21. The spirit of God is able to let you know exactly what is left to be done and step by step guide of how to progress from that road block to a place of completion.

Have you really done all that is required by the Lord or what the world tells you is required?

The standard of the world is not the standard of God. The way we see things are driven by our human fantasies and as such we are quick to embrace the outer beauty of things we see on the outside. Prophet Samuel was one who almost made a mistake due to his outward assessment of Eliab. The prophet would have progressed and anointed the wrong person had he not been guided by God. Samuel was sensitive to the voice of God and only went in the direction of what the Lord required until he anointed David according to 1Samuel 16.

As we progress through the journey of life, it’s important to have an understanding of what is truly required by God as only then are we walking in the right direction to please God.
