Has God Answered?

The Lord said to Moses,  “I have heard my people complain. Now tell them that each evening they will have meat and each morning they will have more than enough bread. Then they will know that I am the Lord their God.” That evening a lot of quails came and landed everywhere in the camp, and the next morning dew covered the ground. After the dew had gone, the desert was covered with thin flakes that looked like frost.  The people had never seen anything like this, and they started asking each other, “What is it?” Moses answered, “This is the bread that the Lord has given you to eat.

Memory Verse: Ask me, and I will do whatever you ask. This way the Son will bring honour to the Father. John 14:13.

How long have you been praying about that particular prayer point? I took a stock of happenings in my life and realized there are prayer requests I have been waiting on God for, even after He has answered. I have my answers but because I had answers that were not tailored exactly the way I expected them, it didn’t look like an answered prayer to me. As a result, I spent years continually praying, even though God had already sorted me out. Intriguing, isn’t it?

The Israelites were just like me! They kept on grumbling and God made their provisions available and I was more excited to see that God did not just make provisions for them, He gave them varieties, so they had meat in the evening and bread in the morning. They actually had bread. When God made provisions, the Israelites did not recognize their own answered prayers. They saw bread but did not recognize it. Can you imagine why?

It is very clear that our answered prayers are sometime already all around us, only because we don’t recognize them. One interesting thing about God’s provision is that it was time sensitive. They had only until sunrise to gather as much as they needed, after which the rest will melt away, Exodus 16:21. This was God’s way of providing for forty years and the rest was in the hands of the Israelites to ensure they did what was required to stay alive. Anyone who did not gather will not have survived so God answered, but they had the responsibility to stay alive by following God’s instruction.

I don’t know what you have been praying to God for but because God does not fail, it may be worth praying to God for the ability to recognize your answered prayer. Some answered prayers need further actions from us before we can begin to benefit from them and if we don’t recognize our answered prayers, we will remain in that asking phase and may never make real progress.
