Jehovah Nacham!

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.

Memory Verse: And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever, John 14:16.

The world at large appears to be in a helpless state and while things may look slightly better for some, others have and are experiencing serious shifts in their everyday life, health and physical state. There has been so much trouble recently building up to anxiety which is taking over the lives of many and this is in addition to the various dramas possibly previously present in the lives of many.

Times are changing and people have never been as confused as they are right now. There is so much try and error approach going on and with that level of confusion, there’s never a time to understand where to go for help.

There are so many things an individual requires, most of which are physical things and while some of those things that worries a person may be provided for in some certain parts of the world, the most important support needed is God.

Majority of the people who really need help may usually appear financially stable but we see that even at that, most of them have one thing or the other they use as support. Some go for counselling while some for some therapies which might help make their issues go away. Whiles a counsellor may not have experience in dealing with all issues themselves, they go through some sort of training and build up experiences like any other work occupation in life and based on their life experiences they render support to people with various issues.

God created us with so many capabilities and being a comforter is one of those things. We know this because the bible tells us about Jesus’s ministry while he was on earth and his expectation for us to be imitators of him. He was always teaching, comforting and helping people. This was what Jesus spent most of His time doing when He wasn’t praying. Today’s memory verse tells us that even when Jesus was leaving the earth, He did not leave us to be on our own, He sent us the Holyspirit as a comforter to help us forever while he goes to prep a place for us in His Heaven.

God granted the request made by Jesus for a comforter, the Holyspirit so that we don’t have to go through all the difficulties on the world alone. Jesus was very clear in preparing us ahead and reassuring us, He gave us His word that through the troubles of the earth, we are to be at peace as He has already overcome it all.

Yes, even the best of believers go through very though phases in life where it seems like everything is out of place and in those instances, the devil also tries his best to take advantage of the situation but we know that God has given us a comforter and in like manner we are expected to comfort others.

Whiles theoretically it may be possible to advice an individual going through a situation, it’s easier to comfort someone with an experience we have previously had. God intentionally lets us go through something so we can understand in reality and have the experience of being comforted by Him.

Once comforted by God, we can easily comfort others knowing exactly how they may be feeling. There was no comforting Hannah by even her husband Elkanah because even while he loved his wife, he simply could not feel her pain as he already had children by Peninah. Hannah was being comforted by the Holyspirit and though she went through pain, she never stopped going to Shiloh until her troubles were over.

We don’t need to have gone through every trouble in life to comfort others. What we need is being able to connect to others, identify with their struggles and understand what it feels like when in distress because we have felt that before. With the Holyspirit as our guide, we are then able to comfort others even when we have not experienced their plight.

Did you know we are created to comfort others?

In God’s Kingdom, there is no saying such as “I like to mind my business”. When others are going through hard times, we are to take our stand as in the word of God and be the comforter we are called to be. God has comforted you so you can comfort others.

PRAYERS:

  • Father I thank you for a wonderful word from your throne
  • Thank you for your Holyspirit the comforter who comforts me
  • Help me from today to be a comforter to others who need my support
  • Fill me with your Holyspirit Lord and let my life be an expression of your grace.
  • Forgive me of all my shortcomings O Lord and let your mercy prevail over judgement
  • Thank you Lord for answers to prayers, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.
