Quality Conversations!

When you pray, don’t talk on and on as people do who don’t know God. They think God likes to hear long prayers. Don’t be like them. Your Father knows what you need even before you ask.

Memory Verse: and you are near to everyone whose prayers are sincere. Psalm 145:18.

Conversations and talks can be interesting or boring depending on who we are conversing with and furthermore, such conversations can be productive or sometime be a complete waste of time.

Sometimes when people talk to me, I struggle to understand the message. This is not because I wasn’t listening but because people communicate differently and some ways which I might struggle to comprehend and digest. Sometimes people understand the message they are trying to communicate but do not know how to get the message out there, which means they can have a 30Minutes conversation without really passing on anything tangible, yet they get frustrated because they don’t get the expected response from who they just conversed with.

Clear quality conversations are the bedrock of any successful relationship, and these go a long way either to strengthen or break a relationship. This also applies to our relationship with God. Our Creator is someone who is interested in having conversations with us but we often get frustrated because it seems like God does not understand us or is not paying attention, when in the real sense, we have not really said anything to Him.

Have you heard of the saying that when you spend enough time with an individual, you begin to reason like them?

The reason is that the longer you hang around an individual, you are likely to pick up some of their qualities and also if you speak to them more, the quality of your conversation improves with time as you both will tend to understand each other better by the day.

Jesus points out some of the ways in which we communicate with God. Majority of the people think when prayers last for so long then they are seen as prayer warriors when in a real sense unless we have had a quality conversation and dwelled in God’s presence because we are spending time with him then the length of our prayers may not equal quality.

A Quality conversation is speaking to God and listening to Him.

This cannot happen in a rush and cannot be a one-time activity in the day, therefore, to really get value, we should focus on constant conversation all day. God is always listening even when you don’t take a prayer posture or bow your head. He lives in us, and we can converse with Him at all times.

Once we know and understand how to talk to God, even one minute of prayer can be a quality conversation. Quality is not by how long you spend praying but by the attitude of the heart when talking to Him.
