God’s Intention Is All That Counts!

But Joseph told them, “Don’t be afraid! I have no right to change what God has decided. You tried to harm me, but God made it turn out for the best, so that he could save all these people, as he is now doing.

Memory Verse: If your enemies are hungry, give them something to eat. And if they are thirsty, give them something to drink. This will be the same as piling burning coals on their heads. And the Lord will reward you. Proverbs 25:21-22.

When my daughter turned 4 Years old and started early years school / reception, we were blessed to have school close to home which meant the journey to and from school was only 10mins. Prior to that, myself and the little one hardly went on walks, we occasionally did but not consistently. One day on our morning trips to school, I noticed something interesting, she was always looking back and had been doing it a while now. This may not sound dangerous, but I was also teaching her to use a manual scooter which meant that her full concentration was needed, and it was important to constantly look forward on this journey for so many reasons, one of which was to prevent any head-on collision or accidents.

Joseph was very young when God showed him a vision of what will happen in his future. He went through a lot of difficulties from those that were closest to him – His brothers. After all the selling to slavery and hating episodes, a lot happened in Joseph’s life that could make him constantly look back and blame his brothers for every bad thing that happened after that.

Joseph had a choice to constantly look back whiles trying to move forward or He could simply face forward and keep moving in that direction without backtracking. Joseph chose to ride his scooter of life safely by completely forgetting what had happened in the past because He was walking with God and not by every bad thing that man had attempted on his life. Most importantly, Joseph’s brothers didn’t understand that they were moving him towards God’s plan for his life.

Many of us have been through horrible situations in life that stops us from living in the present. Our prayer life with God is filled with trying to return back to our previous state instead of continually walking with God towards a better future. When we realise that things are not going according to our plans, we begin to look back as if looking for who to blame or situations to put the blame on, but what we ought to do is understand that if we are on the Lord’s side, no matter what happens and by whom ever it happens, it is always God’s intention that counts.

The most important thing is not to lose sight of our relationship with God, but if we keep looking back, we may lose ourselves in the process. Many of us would have used the latter part of our lives to pay people back for the evil they did but Joseph was walking with God and knew the battle was already won .

Focus on God and see His intentions come to pass in your life daily. What the enemy intended for harm cannot harm or destroy you IF you are on the Lord’s side, it will always be for your own good and for God’s purpose, Genesis 50:20.
