Forever Living God!

“But now, as to whether the dead will be raised even Moses proved this when he wrote about the burning bush. Long after Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob had died, he referred to the Lord as ‘the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ So he is the God of the living, not the dead, for they are all alive to him.”

Memory Verse: For in him we live and move and exist. Acts 17:28a

One of the most beautiful things about being a Christian is our hope for resurrection after death; the grace of eternal life. It is joyfully unexplainable to know that when a Christian reaches end of life and passes on, they are not dead to God as we know according to the scriptures, they live on reigning with Christ. This is because we have heard of the power of His resurrection and when He says even the dead will see Him face to face and spend eternity with Him, it means every child of God is serving a God that is living, an eternal God.

The Sadducees in today’s passage knew exactly what they were doing when they questioned Jesus hoping to justify their thoughts about resurrection. To them it sounds like nonsense talk and the more they read or heard about it the more it seems senseless so they wanted to trap Jesus.

These people are those who hear the word of God and never understand because God has not given them the understanding of His word so therefore they interpret the message of God with mere human wisdom which always result to more confusion instead of clarity.

They wanted proof and Jesus full of wisdom pointed them back to the scriptures with reference to God speaking to Moses saying “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob”. This statement could only be possible if Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were still alive despite the fact that these words were spoken by God and they were spoken several hundred years after they had all died.

Like the Sadducees, many people in today’s world have positioned themselves in our lives to set a trap hoping that we will fall victims into it. Most of those traps are positioned in ways to make us question the presence and existence of God in our lives. They magnify situational circumstances and project negativity out of them with the aim of confusing your belief about the reality of God but that God the Holy spirit cannot be confused and His presence in our lives is what helps us through times like that.

Because we serve a God that is living, there can never be a situation that is absolutely dead in the life of His children. He has created us like Him and therefore, as living beings, everything God has given us is destined to live and not die.

Whatever situation or circumstances we find ourselves facing, we find comfort in knowing that God is living and therefore there is hope in our future. Even the most hopeless situation to man is not dead to God because He is God of the living therefore, where the world sees death, He sees life.

I urge you to encourage yourself in Christ and with His word. Everything about you is alive Yes even the most physically hopeless situations. We should not be distracted by the confusion going round in the world today. So just like Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are alive in God, so are our hopeless situations.

We serve a living God and as long as we remain in his camp, we have the gift of eternal life and everything presumed dead in our lives have hope to live again just like Lazarus did.
