The Clarity of Vision!

Now behold, two of them were traveling that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was seven miles from Jerusalem. And they talked together of all these things which had happened.  So it was, while they conversed and reasoned, that Jesus Himself drew near and went with them.  But their eyes were restrained, so that they did not know Him. Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed, and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight.”

Memory Verse: Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law. Psalm 119:18

Does the term ‘Vision 20/20’ sound familiar? This is a general terminology used by opticians for people who having been for an eye test, the ophthalmologist certifies them to be able to read accurately at 20 feet, therefore they are deemed as having a ‘20/20 Vision’ which is the perfect vision, but some people are unable to see the same even if the words were increased to 20/60.

A person who can only see between the measurement of 20/200 and 20/100 will be deemed as legally blind. Being legally blind is different from total blindness as people deem totally blind, completely lack the ability to see in anyway, form or shape.

As a child of God, where do you see yourself on the chart if we were to plot the Vision 20/20, Is your vision 20/20 or are you Legally or totally blind? It’s scary that research being carried out in America shows that about 82% of Christians read their bibles only on Sunday. It’s therefore no news that an individual can be spiritually blind either partially or totally; therefore, having no vision at all.

The two men and Jesus on the road to Emmasus were in a conversation with Him. They spent 7 miles having a conversation with Jesus and despite how detailed the conversation was, they just had no clarity. They urged him to stay with them and even sat at the table with him for a meal but just did not see it was Jesus all along until He broke bread and gave them to eat. They consumed and their blindness was removed, they immediately recognised Jesus.

Many of us are like the two men! We spend our everyday life walking around blind without seeing everything God has deposited in you or around us and as a result, we continue to persistently ask God in prayers for things He’s already provided which we are just blinded to. We then continue to pay for our blindness but until we eat of the body of Jesus by consuming His word daily, we continue to live like the blind.

You can truly have vision 20/20 if you see through the lens of God’s word.
