God’s Favour Will Find You Out.

And Samuel said to Jesse, “Are all the young men here?” Then he said, “There remains yet the youngest, and there he is, keeping the sheep.” And Samuel said to Jesse, “Send and bring him. For we will not sit down till he comes here.” 12 So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with bright eyes, and good-looking. And the Lord said, “Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!” 13Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.

Memory Verse: For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield. Psalm 5:12

Few days ago I was thinking of reasons why people go from one place to another, wandering around to find the perfect location for progression. What I realised is that most times, these decisions are based on self-evaluation and realistically there is no such place as a perfect location. We see an individual reviews their personal life and suddenly come to a conclusion that they are simply not being favored due to where they are currently located and without consulting God make a move to where they think has high possibilities of progression. While some of the moves may yield positive results, some will or may not and often with genuine reality check, they soon realise they are not any better than where they were previously positioned.

The story of David’s anointing is one of the stories in the bible which shows clearly the way in which God operates with His children.  Many people, Christians inclusive believe they have to somehow earn the favor of God and be at a particular place before being favored by God but as a child of God, our primary role is to continue in an honest relationship with God whiles He does the rest at His own time, pace and place.

David was the most unqualified and the youngest of his father’s children and interestingly, when prophet Samuel was sent to anoint one of Jesse’s son’s, everyone was home except David. The one chosen by the Lord to be King over Israel. He was minding his business doing his daily chores of sheep minding and the favour of God located him where he was.

The bible tells us in Psalm 127:2  that It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He gives His beloved sleep. While the word of God does not encourage laziness as we read in Proverbs 10:4, he who has a slack hand becomes poor, but the hand of the diligent makes rich. Trying to roam around finding the perfect position may cause us more harm than good.

God does not operate with the economic settings of the world, while the study of economics has taught us that location is a barrier to successfully enter into a market place, God’s placement is the power that changes everything in our lives. Even though God positioned you at a location, you are not immune to the encountering challenges but we need rock solid faith to know that if God positioned us there then eventually His favour will locate us and His grace will be sufficient for us.

If you are questioning your location due to what seem like a lack of progression, it is important to speak to God before you move again to another location because if God positioned you there then He will come through and if He desires you to make a move, He will make it happen and direct you right.

Never make a move without hearing from God because God’s favour knows no barrier.
