“Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.”
Memory verse: “Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.” John 14:23
Now a days we see or hear of a lot of people passing away like the wind and it almost feels like every next minute there is some sort of sad news about someone very famous or indispensable who has just passed on. The social media just seem to be filled with this sad news day in and out and this can be very demoralizing. These happenings remind us without doubt that everything we focus on is only temporarily. So temporary that once a human takes the last breath, all things in life become irrelevant; including all they have acquired.
Despite this last breath, some still have hope of a better tomorrow but not everyone has that opportunity. The bible records only those who are born again and die with Christ living in them will have access to the place that Jesus has been preparing. “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:3.
The first criteria for becoming a citizen of any country is by birth or nationalization but to enjoy the benefits of such citizenship, one must abide by the laws of the land else a citizen who constantly breaks the law will be treated just like a fugitive in the land and the kingdom of God is not any different from that.
Paul says in Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
When we live in Christ and Christ lives in us, we become dead to the things of the world and what seem to drive everyone has little impact on us because we understand that we live a life of total freedom. A freedom we enjoy in this life and after so our focus is doing the will of God while he focuses on taking care of us and preparing a place for us so that where the trinity is, we can eventually be also.
We know that when Christ lives in us then our lives take a very different shape contrary to what the world wants. We don’t waste our time on earth focusing on the perishable things of the world rather we look more and more at Christ, investing in the heavenly.
