I promise that when any two of you on earth agree about something you are praying for, my Father in heaven will do it for you. Whenever two or three of you come together in my name, I am there with you.

During my MBA study years, I rented a few accommodations, but prior to that, I had my fair share of challenges due to lack of understanding of housing policies. It was an entirely different story when I was studying for my Bachelors’ degree because my parents’ sorted accommodation. I walked directly into a complete mess when I had to sort out accommodation for the first time by myself. It turned up that I moved in with a friend into a shared accommodation, apparently without a valid agreement.
When the landlord asked her to move out of the apartment, I was automatically impacted because though it was a shared apartment, the landlord only signed an agreement with my friend. At this point, I had no leg to stand on. In a flash, I became homeless. I learnt the very hard way and this life lesson has saved me most of my life until today.
Many of us Christians continue to fall victim to this lack of understanding as we ignore the place of agreement in our daily walk with the Holy Spirit. We also don’t bother about agreeing with people we transact or deal with as we decide based on assumptions and begin to pray based on those assumptions without the understanding that without a valid agreement, we have nothing to take to God.
The word of God says agree about anything not somethings therefore the key ingredient when going to God about anything is that there is an agreement and not just a gathering. Any gathering without an agreement is not a valid one and though we invite the presence of God, He is there with us and we will enjoy fellowship with Him but that’s about it.
There are no definite steps or particular way of asking from God, but we know that one way to receive from God is to:
- Gather in His name
- Agree on earth
- Ask
Without an agreement, we may continually ask without receiving.
God has made a lot of promises to us His beloved according to the scriptures but in order for us to fully benefit and manifest in those promises, we have to understand, agree and abide by the commandments binding those promises. Having agreed to Jesus being our personal Lord and saviour and walking each day keeping His statutes, there is an agreement in place to eat the good of the land and benefit from his manifold blessings.
Let us stop assuming but understanding divine details and agreeing in line with the word of God.
