Bible Text: John 3:16-17  “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.”

Memory Verse: John 15:13 “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

Today we remember the day Jesus fulfilled God’s big plan for us. During Christ’s ministry on earth, the bible records various good deeds and miracles He done not limited to healing, deliverance and teaching. All His deeds were geared towards letting us know we are completely loved by the Trinity.

Today is the main reason Jesus was sent to the world. His crucifixion was well known to Him ahead for He was part of the plan and knew everything that was supposed to happen, and in what order, but it still didn’t stop those terrible things from happening neither could He have stopped them because it was towards a major course of saving the world.

Although Jesus was in agony of the spirit at the moment leading to His arrest and death likewise, Luke 22:41-44, He still prayed for those crucifying Him, Luke 23:34 and saved the soul of a sinner who was nailed to the cross beside Him, Luke 23:40-43.

The purpose of His death was for the salvation of our souls with the reason beneath being LOVE. Once man sinned in the garden of Eden, there was a separation between man and God thereby giving rise to a broken bridge which needed to be mended. Man no longer benefited from Gods original full plan according to Genesis 1:27-30 but was now under a curse of disobedience Genesis 3:16-29

God formed us, sin deformed us, Jesus died to reform us. His death meant a restoration of God’s original plan. Jesus payed the one time sacrifice for all those who believe in Him, John 3:16. Therefore we can boldly operate within God’s original plan for our lives as His elects.

At noon today on a Friday like this, an extraordinary event took place as Jesus was being hung to the cross. Darkness fell on the land from noon for 3hours and the curtain from the temple was torn. We remember Jesus’ final words “Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!” And with those words he breathed his last.” Luke 23:44-46.

The significance of the death of Christ today is a reminder that God loves you unconditionally. But can I ask you how much you love Him?

What manner of love for a Man to lay down His life for His friends! He has called us to love unconditionally, He has laid the foundation for it, leading the front line and by example. He has inclusively called you and I to love Him by obedience to His word and being part of His world. I beseech you not to allow the greatest sacrifice in life go to waste, retrace your step back to Him today. He is waiting to see you turn aside your crooked ways and be in His camp!

PRAYERS:

  • Father I thank you for your unlimited and unmeasurable love shown towards me
  • Thank You for dying for me on the cross and bringing me salvation
  • I receive the zeal to worship you forever, love you forever and to remain in your camp for the rest of my days
  • I receive the ability to show love unto others just as you have commanded me to
  • Help me Lord to not love the world, but to love your kingdom and keep my eyes on the prize
  • Forgive my iniquities Lord and let your mercy prevail over judgement
  • Thank you Father and in Jesus Name I Pray, Amen.
