There Is No Alternative!

This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth.  But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

Memory Verse: This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all 1John 1:5

Having alternatives are really good, they give us options and widen our possibilities for success and that’s what birthed the common saying which goes “don’t put all your eggs in one basket”. Without doubt, when one has alternatives, in an eventuality, you stand not to lose all and that’s why we see when people make plans, contingencies are considered leading them to make up to like 3 plans so that when plan A fails, the option to pick up on B or C as remains. It’s an approach of learning to fall but not get crushed.

This approach often works most times and it’s become a norm but sometimes we make just one plan and depend so much on that one plan that when it fails, we most likely go flat, down and out. It’s usually like someone did give us a blow, so hard that recovery looks almost impossible. Though we may have given that single plan everything, prayed, fasted, sowed, watered and the rest alike and then totally trusting that God will make it work, only for us to realise it may not have been God’s plan for us as it ends up failing.

Taking less risk is usually most certainly appealing because the probability of achieving our desired result stands to be higher and we see this in the life of people like Adam & Eve, Abraham and Jacob, the Israelites story, David’s, Saul’s, Judas and many other stories in the bible but in this topic, let’s focus on Abraham. His wife Sarah was God’s plan for him but between themselves, Abraham and Sarah made an alternative plan. They progressed with this plan with such intensity and within the shortest time Hagar came to light as a concubine and Ismael was birthed; just as Abraham and Sarah desired. Officially, there was a child in the family as desired but their alternative plan was not Gods plan.

In life there is no alternative to God. The approach discussed above is applicable to things which carries elements of uncertainty but the ways of God are absolute, certain and unchanging. Without further ado, God is the only plan and serving Him is the only way. The devil may be giving us ideas that he is the ruler of this world like he did during the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness “Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” Matthew 4:8-9 but even at that it is worth knowing that the devil did not create anything.

There is a clear difference between a house owner and a house keeper. God is the owner of the earth and you cannot be slaving under a slave.

As much as the alternatives presented might seem so attractive like it was to Eve in the garden of Eden, it is worth establishing in your heart that there is no alternative to the plan of God. No matter how hard we try as human, God has the only and final say and the earlier we realise that the easier it becomes to focus solely on Him.

Don’t get carried away running around, the devil is not stable so he uses confusion as a weapon to penetrate into the lives of many. You need to take a stand for yourself today and be determined to follow Jesus John 14:6. There is no alternative to the word of God and you can only make good success in life if you focus on the word of God and not depart from it, Joshua 1:8.

God is light and the alternative is darkness.
