Overcoming The Power Of Evil!

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Read Ephesians 6:10-18

Memory Verse: “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”Ephesians 6:11

Who doesn’t get scared? Is the world not full of so many negative and discouraging things to the point that even Christians struggle everyday battling between staying strong in faith and keeping still in the midst of storms? The devil is actively in the battle of doing everything possible to make sure our faith in Christ wavers, gets shaken up or possibly gets lost and his attempt at this is never ending. Look at Jesus in Luke 4, as mighty and powerful as He is and still is, He had to proclaim words do get the devil behind him during the temptation. He was likewise a target.

It all starts by him playing on our minds, initially sowing fear and doubt and if we allow him, he finds more routes by pertaining deep down, using other evil techniques and reminding us of everything that is not working out according to how we may have wanted and hoped them to. There is this feeling it creates like “God is no longer backing me”. At these times we may have forgotten that a man may have plans in his head but only the will of God is what prevails, Proverb 19:21. This impatience is what lingers on our minds, putting us at a low point which then gives the devil more power to start firing all sorts of evil arrows towards us.

The truth is, God is not the source of any evil, the devil is the one behind any sort of evil we may experience in life, just as we see in the book of Genesis 3, it all started with his manipulation and according to Job 1:7b, the devil responded to God saying “I have been patrolling the earth, watching everything that’s going on.” and from verse 12 of the same chapter, we see how Job’s life was tormented.

The devil uses all sort of evil to torment us just so we can doubt God and the moment we doubt God for even a second, then it becomes impossible to overcome him because we are operating with fear.

The scriptures according to 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us that God has not given you and I the  spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

We cannot overcome evil powers by being fearful, Paul overcame the power of evil through the power of Jesus to perform miracles. In like manner, we can also overcome the power of evil by being strong in the Lord and believing in His word. Yes fear will come but we stay strong firm, rigid and unmovable when we know the word of God and use them daily.

The amour of God is to be put on wholly and not partially to face the challenges of this world. It’s not a time to be indecisive about where we belong but a time to make a decision and stand firm on the word of God.
