“For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ. Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone. Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.”
Memory verse: Deuteronomy 31:6, “So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”
Every achievement or failure in life starts with a step and today’s bible text opens our eyes to a whole new dimension of individual impact and how much a single person can really change things. As Walt Disney once said, “it all started with a mice”. When things have to change, the notion is usually moved by a human and at times, people.
Someone vividly have to step in and make those changes happen but often the first barrier to most change is when people feel incapable or unqualified to make a change in their environment. Looking on a positive side, a writer once said “I will rather take a step forward, fail and then try again rather than not taking any step at all”.
Thinking about change in the Christendom, the sinful nature of whole world itself emerged as a result of single conversation between eve and the serpent. Eve’s disobedience to God’s instruction and Adam’s acceptance put the whole world in a state of separation between God and man, Genesis 3:6,14-19.
It usually takes just an individual start off and make a change but the state of heart is what determines the size, effectiveness and impact of the change.
Lets look at Noah’s righteousness, this saved the whole lineage from eternal destruction as God spared His wife, children and their spouses from a flood purposed to wipe out the entire human race at the time, Genesis 6:9,18. It took Abraham’s single act of obedience to secure a covenant for his generation, Genesis 23:1-3 , Joseph’s faithfulness to the Lord to saved Egypt from the famine which would have lasted 7 Years and possibly killed most people in the land, Genesis 41, David’s single act of love for the Lord, secured a throne for his generation, 2 Samuel 7 1-16.
Interestingly most of the people who were able make changes which attracted God’s blessing and mercy were not people in authority. For a fact, Abraham was recorded to be living with His father which will suggests He had nothing for Himself . Joseph was just at the time of Be was sold into slavery so really no power, authority, Name, status or position is needed to make a change.
God is able to use you to change your environment, your community or even a single individual which is far more better than not being used but God . Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for environment. Romans 5:18.
Stop procrastinating and start acting, you will be surprised about how much change you can make in your world and in the life of those around you. Just focus on the assignment ahead and know that God will never forsake you, Deuteronomy 31:6.
