Understanding God’s Word?

Now His disciples began asking Him what this parable meant. And He said, “To you [who have been chosen] it has been granted to know and recognize the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest it is in parables, so that though seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.

Memory Verse: All things have been transferred and turned over to Me by My Father and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal Him.” Luke 10:22

There are some conversations that are supposedly straightforward but when had with some people becomes long winded and may even grow into argument all because of lack of understanding. It at times gets you thinking and questioning rhetorically in your head “but this should be pretty straightforward, what’s happening here?” Without doubt no one knows it all and that’s why the scripture admonishes us to seek understanding.

Is the bible really complicated? Are there certain or set ways to reading and understanding the word of God? Cab a random person just pick up studying the scriptures and understand it? These and more are some of the questions that pop up naturally on the human mind as we begin to explore how to strengthen our faith as a Christians through the word of God.

The bible like every word of God is open to various interpretation. Whiles the word of God is a tool for guidance, training, correction and completeness for some 2Timothy3:16-17. it is used as a tool of false teaching and heresy by others. The bible is like a treasure mine opened up to everyone and anyone, this means even a little child who is capable of reading can just pick up a bible, start to read it and begin to find little treasures in the process.

This treasure may be interesting and capture the heart in which you see that child go back to continue digging and as the child digs deeper, such continues to grow in wisdom finding more and more treasures.

The primary reason why the word of God becomes complex is because we have not subjected to the leading of the Holyspirit, John 14:26. The understanding of the word of God is only for the children of God therefore unless you make a decision to come to Him, you will never really understand His words. The scriptures according to Luke 8:10 admonishes us that the word of God will guide, shield and instruct believers whiles the truth of the same word will be hidden from unbelievers.

The only answer to the word of God can only be gotten from Him and that’s why He is called His word according to John 1:1. As we continue to study the word of God, I pray He will teach us what each verse means and help us understand better, else we will never get it!

I encourage you to approach the word of God prayerfully everyday expecting to hear from God and when you find yourself stuck with no understanding in one aspect, dwell on it a little bit more because you are about to find a bigger treasure. The deeper you go the more treasures there are to be found it the scriptures. Do not forget that the word of God is alive and active!

PRAYERS:
